but IF it did, maybe eliminate one of the minors levels(prep?) as well as semi-pro. Dots would be leveling faster, and this would also put more human owned dots/teams in leagues together. Reduce flex cost for dots by 1/3rd and also reduce flex returns to 60%
Make only the free dots available to insta-lvl 79 with 6 seasons till decline (and while pipe dreaming, also give another free dot slot , so those that currently only have 1 free slot would then also have 2 and those whom currently have 2 free slots already would be upped to 3 free slots)
Yes. Just as eliminating some of the time needed to take a dot to plateau, the length of the TEAM progression would also have to shrink. And, really, that would also be good for the game. So eliminate a level or two of progression for the teams as well. While you're at it, some consolidation of the entire system would work well also. With a shrinkage of the numbers of 'seasons' a team needs to go from rookie to WL, the number of teams also needs to shrink. I know this is a sore subject for WG but we have WAY too many CPU teams anyways. And WG has already stated it's not going to go out of it's way to get new blood into GLB so, why not? I mean, if you're gonna go out... go out with a bang... not with a whimper. WG really has nothing to lose by giving everyone the following;
#1, A decent notice of the changes coming and a few seasons to prepare for them before flipping the switch.
#2, A complete reset of all things (needed to make the changes). The ONLY dots spared would be those already at, or beyond, plateau. We're not changing the WAY dots are built... just the speed in which it happens. This means changes to the XP, and VP points and the training gains. But a plateau dot is still a plateau dot... period. And when I say 'reset', I mean all dots recycled and all teams reset to rookie and all flex accounted for properly. In fact, if it was me, (in charge) I would simply do a one-time 100% refund of current flex. So if you owned dots, instead of the usual 70% (or whatever it is) refund, you would get it all back. And same for teams. Everybody would be starting from scratch and making the same adjustments so nobody would get any advantages. Also, those with WL teams and Plateau dots could 'opt out' of the reset and remain without any issues. It would just be a while before there were any new dots available for them.
Still, it's just like anything else. Gamble vs payoff. I think the risk to WG is minimal. In fact, there is even a chance that, should this really work as I think it would, there would be big renewed interest among the current active agents... and possibly interest from new agents as well. I would bet that, if WG could've taken a survey of people leaving the game, most would tell you the long build times and how long it takes to take a team from rookie to WL is what caused them to 'burnout' and go. Eliminate the time issue and you'll eliminate some (never all) of the burnout. And, if it doesn't work, so? Everybody, including the braintrust at WG knows that GLB (original, not 2) is NOT growing. Why cling to death when there's a shot at new life? So if it doesn't work it just dies a bit sooner? People migrate to GLB2 and whatever other WG games are out there or are coming... and some just leave. Change nothing and I doubt that changes the numbers. I'm really not interested in GLB2 or MB... and when GLB dies (or I run out of flex... whichever comes first)... I'm gone. I would bet that is the mindset of many here and 'clinging to the status quo' isn't gonna change any of those minds. So why not? Just take the jump and let's see if we fly.
