Any god that demands I worship it or deserve eternal punishment is not a supreme being. It is a petty, vindictive creature that must be worshiped or you will pay. Sounds more like Paris Hilton than a guide to higher morality.
OTOH, if there is a supreme being that has half the characteristics ascribed to it, it will not care if I spent all Sunday in church or not. More so, given the vastness of the universe, I'm really not important enough in the grand scheme of things.
Also, San Marcos has an excellent chipotle salsa. No chunks, so yello fear not break his chips.
So Vlady your basing your disbelief of God based on morality? Just because you do not like how God does things does not change if He is real or not does it?
Sad that this was moved, but I'm not an atheist. I'm an agnostic who knows that religion is very useful to many folks but who finds no personal use for it. I find it very fascinating (was nearly a religion minor in undergrad) but ultimately I don't need it to live my life. If I die, then this is it- and so what I do now is *much* more important than if I believed there is an afterlife, because all that will be left after I am dead is what I've done in this life to make things better.
Look at it a different way: If the only reason people don't lie, steal, or kill is because they are afraid of what happens after they die, that doesn't sound very moralistic to me.
