Really though, I think most networks have around 5 active members left so I'm not sure it matters anymore.

bring him to DS and we'll demote one of our WL worthy DE's to Hood casual. Networks helping Networks is the way to go.

Everyone knows that one man teams will outlive the networks.

Having been part of many 'reboots' I know that the biggest problems with the game are:

1) people committing to build dots, then building shitty dots;
2) people committing to build dots, then leaving the game;
3) people committing to build dots, then having the owner disappear and part of the team disbands before a new owner steps up;
4) people giving up too early on a team and deciding to retire to start again after only a few seasons; and
5) people committing to build dots, then commit them to other teams (probably a network feeder) when the team has a losing season.

It is the reason that the age level before uncapped has two minor leagues and casual has one, while rookie has eight. Some of that can be accounted for by non-boosters, but most of it is people just giving up on teams or teams giving up on their players. So few players have the work ethic to see this thing through all the way to uncapped.

Accelerated development reduced that time, but too many teams still don't ever see the final product of their initial 55 player rosters.

Given the way the remaining userbase has circled the wagons there's really no use in keeping your team together until plateau if your team has fallen apart on the way up.

Mustaff had helped me a great deal as had Palmer before he quit and Hickster. Now that I have funds for more dots though, the DS forum is pretty dead so Gman lured me back to his seedy world. Love the DS guys though.

Yeah, but recruiting isn't that tough if you catch the players from the disbanding teams in your age group. If you aren't active enough in the forums you miss out on learning early on when a team is going to disband.

Plus, you can turn a moderate team around just by picking up a couple of pieces you are missing. Then all you need is a couple of seasons of success and you can use that success to attract better dots.

The problem with restarting with the same group of players and the same vision is that you aren't going to actually get any better. And the problem with simply enforcing a build plan on a bunch of agents is that unless you put in the sweat to understand the "why" and "how" behind the build plan, you are probably going to screw it up anyway.

I don't use build plans, I use experience to build better dots than I did the last time. The dots that don't work out can be replaced so long as the core of the team is still solid.

That was true some time ago. There is literally no margin for error as you move up now. I've picked up dots here and there as we rose through the leagues but rarely did they replace what was lost or what should have been. A lot of people just retire their dots when teams fold now and the rest are mostly meh. Most of the leagues coming up are pretty small to begin with. Once you've lost dots and fall behind those top 2 or 3 teams you're screwed for good. People know this and that's why they reset or fold after losing enough dots and/or have so many builds stray. Not many people want to play out the next 10+ seasons knowing the best they can do is scratch and claw for a CC game loss.
