that

one thread for multiple topics -will- be a headache for moderators and posters

Multiple threads for 100 topics, though, will also be a headache. I'd argue in favor of "1 hour per thread" or "100 posts per thread" would be easier to sift through. Just consider the headache of finding info for a few hundred questions in a forum, each with their own thread and no useful "Search" feature.

and limited useful actual discussion - since 100+ people talking at once can rarely accomplish much

It's not a coincidence that some of the most useful Bort talks have happened after 2am est.

Dammnit I agree.

How about topic sets. Say all questions having to do with running the ball.

You could have each post auto numbered, and you can just reference what number you are discussing/debating.

what? lack of search is even more reason to make use of categorizing each question into its own thread

that's why it would be its own forum and only admins would be able to start new threads in that forum, based on the questions they want discussed.

so you'd have one Q&A forum and every thread title would either have the question or short summary of the question it's discussing in that thread.

honestly, i don't see how one thread for multiple discussions is less of a headache.

The discussion is more to get clarification on the questions and answers that are posted. It is NOT to ask new questions or ask any questions that someone wants to ask. I'll make sure when I create the discussion thread to put out a clear set of guidelines with the warning that a user who violates these guidelines more than once (we'll let people make one mistake)will be given a quick forum suspension until the discussion is over. There are going to be well over 20 questions with answers - to have a separate thread for each of those would not only be ridiculous but it would be even more impossible for the Admins to respond to.

I'll personally go through the discussion thread and pull any relevant information into the locked questions and answers thread that is posted.

Before we start bashing the process, let's let it actually take place once K?

Oh and I never said Bort was going to be there - I'm sure he'll try to be there but there are no guarantees that he will be.

No bashing here, just pouring thoughts onto the page.

say there's 100 questions and each one generates and avg of 15 posts of discussion (which we all know is low)
that's 1500 posts that someone would have to read even if they're only interested in one of the discussions.

if the problem there isnt extremely obvious then ... i dont know what else to say.

There are not going to be 100 questions - it'll be somewhere in the range of 20-40.

There are going to be strict guidelines as to posting rules for the session. There's not going to be any Hootie Hoo's, synpahs, Hey Bort, will you marry me? or frivolous off topic postings allowed.

If it doesn't work, we'll reevaluate and figure something else out for the following session. One idea we had as to lock the thread after every question that was asked to allow the Admins time to answer it, but I'd rather not do that unless it's necessary.

I would think a lock after each page could work...

Maybe a max on a certain topic/question before it overshadows the main thread, and needs it's own separate thread made.

I might just implement that - the more I think about it, the better that sounds. Gives us Admins the time to respond (since we can post in a locked thread). When we're done, we'll unlock.

Bort explained but it's basically because posts with thehazyone would show up as being Admin posts even though I wasn't an Admin at the time.

Well there ever be a rule that a team must be under the cap level with the entire roster prior to the season? and if so will it be enforced more?
