Ice, you know you are my boy, but you are only seeing this from your team perspective.
Nautilus made his bed when he bought the team where he did. He could have bought a team in the USA, but he didn't.
It's not about making whatever league more competitive. The World League concept is supposed to handle that. Unless you want to be so presumptuous that the USAPL is effectively the world league - in which case why don't we just bring the Benitos and 4-5 other world class foreign teams over and be done with it.
What happened to WSI is great for them, and pretty much insults any other team that wanted to move, but didn't bother crying to Bort season in and out.
The fact they may have taken the spot from some 10-6 AAA team that claims they are slighted as a result is not my concern. They should've at least won 14 before choking in the AAA playoffs (I'm familiar with this btw
) before making any claims.
What's important is that other teams (not named the Hounds) just got pissed on because Bort is making exceptions again based on obvious favoritism.
+1
Honestly it kind of makes me worry about the prospect of a World League not happening, because if it really is so close then why would Bort decide to finally let WSI move now?
Can't blame WSI at all. I would rather their season of PM's have pressured Bort into guaranteeing a World League ASAP. I think the teams in USAPL are used to dealing with competition. No one is upset because they are scared of WSI even if they are scared of WSI.
When I first joined GLB there were still plenty of teams left available. I could have bought a team in another region, but instead of I chose to wait until more USA Leagues were announced.
I was much happier being in USA A than I would have been in WEPL or something. I liked that my team had to prove itself and make a name for ourselves as we climbed up the ranks rather than starting at the top. We finished 14-2 last year but 6-10 the year before. Nobody on our team was happy with finishing 6-10 when we were expecting to at least make the playoffs, but we did like the competition making a record like that possible.
Before we got to AAA a 12-4 season would have been disappointing. But our team was glad to have the competition and we didn't lose a single player after finishing 6-10. Instead we turned things around and earned a back-door promotion.
I have a ton of respect for any team that can stick together after suffering through disappointment like that, especially if they can bounce back. I think the fact that WSI would rather be here than better their 74-1 record or whatever says a lot about them. I think they have tougher skin than a lot of teams here and so I definitely have a ton of respect for WSI, even if I am completely against the whole idea of allowing them to move here.
