1. XP overhaul
-the system bellies out to early, if no one boosted it might work, but with everyone boosting the curve should go out further.
-players would have more to do in offseason/preseason if they got daily XP still, even if it means lower amount per day throughout the regular season just to stretch it out
-its ridiculous that you can boost 3 levels every season, but only level 2.5 times per level without boosting, (note: I've boosted everyone of my players and will continue too)
2. Financial system needs a complete overhaul
-player contracts are too small,
-the EQ fund is stupid stop-gap, should be removed, players should be paid more to balance it out.
-Playoffs should be beneficial but not overwhelmingly beneficial as they are right now.
-EQ costs should not have so steep of a climb, lower EQ costs slightly
3. More player control
-more involvement by players on how they are played, right now only GMs really determine wins/loses, players are becoming less and less important, especially as everyone builds towards a common cookie cutter build.
-more player sliders
4. Get rid of custom slots, something that encourages specialization is inherently wrong. (I don't consider the ST ones custom, they were a great addition)
Most of the issues I have are all non-SIM related stuff. The sim itself will only improve over the seasons...

1. Sort all leagues/teams into lvl appropriate leagues. Then cap the leagues on both ends to keep lvl appropriate players in the leagues they belong. Figure a new way of promotion relegation along with it. The way teams move right into uncapped leagues from lvl 13 expansion was fine for s3 teams, but each season the gap between the possible lvls in the uncapped league gets worse. by lvl 29 those players are no longer gaining on those lvl 40's. In fact, they're losing ground, since a lvl 40 earns 8 VA's a season and can push those VA's to 15, while a lvl 29 can only go to 5 and earns 5 or 6 a year (6 if they get into lvl 30). Lvl 29's and lvl 40's should be separated by at least 2 leagues. Always.
2. Fix the prices of equipment. It should not cost the same as a stadium section to upgrade the gear of 1 lvl 40 player. Ridiculous. Also the idea that "not everyone will get gear" is also ridiculous. NO MMO's function that way. Sure, if you're a complete moron, you shouldn't be able to, but if your team isn't 3-13 each season, you should be able to make ends meet.
3. Fan Support needs changed, actually needed looked at an eternity ago. A team goes on a 4 game losing streak and gets absolutely buried. Margin of loss means nothing as well. If a team is competitive but goes 4-12, they will still have at least halfway decent fan support. See Browns stadium if you don't believe me. If a team got constantly annihilated, then I bet you'd see low fan support. Right now, losing 17-16 on a last second FG hurts fan support as much as if you gut and lose 255-0.
4. VA's need eliminated, or removed and tested extensively before being returned. I really find them to be an extension of SA's, which really is quite dumb. I'd rather see them gone permanently tbh.
5. Be upfront with what things actually do. I played Everquest for 5 years. I knew if I raised AC what it would do. I knew if I raised my Wisdom, what it would do. Here, I have NO CLUE what anything does. Everything here is written in cryptic and mystical language. Shed Block should give a % for what it does. Pancake should give a %. Line General gives stamina and morale? No shit!? How much? I can go on.......The bottom line is this is an EXPENSIVE game. I've spent around $500 or so on this game, and many have spent a lot more. if you want people to continue to spend $50-100 every 8 weeks or so boosting their players, they should know what they are getting, more than just 15 SP per.
6. Teams need more ways to bring in cash. If we're not getting lower prices for gear or having team owned gear, then we need a lot more income coming in. No one believes that decline will take place until s12 or 13. So all the panic about 56 gear? Shit, you'll be having people begging for 72 soon.
One suggestion I saw in here, progressive sales EVERY day based on fan support. It's May right now. If I want to go buy a Brady Quinn jersey I can, even though it's not game day.
Also, more stadium upgrades like parking, domes, tv revenue etc. etc.
7. Hold the sim above EVERYTHING else. If the sim is broke, guess what? The GAME is broke.
8. Don't roll anything out until everything has been tested and is gtg. We haven't had a truly successful rollout of anything since the new training came in (which I think was done well). Fame, Endorsements, VA's.....all created 1,000 more problems and headaches. I understand "Beta" and all that jazz, but cmon, have some integrity. I think 95% of the player base has been patient and would be more patient if things worked pretty well upon inception.

I am a bit late to the party but I like TSE's idea because it actually brings the RPG strategy element to the game. Unlike, the SA tree which is boring. That license board (If forgot what TSE calls it) should have everything thrown into it: AEQ, VA's, and SA's. Also make it a bit randomized where a square or two change everytime you re-roll that license board.
Edit: with all that said, Bort has definitely nailed down the MMO part because there are thousands of agents here.

Bort should man up and admit that one guy alone can't do what needs to be done for GLB.
It is time to cash out the chips and let the pros do their thing.

I seriously would enjoy some additional player tactics based on circunstances. As for example for a CB "when the team is winning by ____ use this settings" (same goes for losing and etc)
Because, seriously, it seems really easy to do and would help a lot on the gameplan.
It blows my mind that there aren't tons of scenario based tactics tabs for players. The tools are there, just create tabs for 1st down, 2nd and short, 3rd and long, etc etc.
Most agents/players would probably welcome more tactics they could influence. Instead of piling on more crap for unpaid coordinators to do.
+1000000.
Brilliant idea.

I've compiled and listed changes/suggestions that I thought made sense and were workable within the framework of the current sim or could at least be looked into. Not every suggestion is in there, so please don't take offense, but I think it's a good start.

LOL, I like the part how you are honest about wanting to keep the TSE part short.

I would like to thank hazy for posting this and at least listening. There are some good ideas that have been posted. A change and solution will come....either here at GLB or eventually a competitor will see a huge opportunity and steal all the good things at GLB.
Bort has a monopoly right now at GLB, but is opening the door for competitors to see a real opportunity. Either Bort will listen to the people or the people will leave once a there's another choice. If he keeps 90% of the people happy...the competition won't have a chance. Unfortunately I think the happy meter is very low. When a competitor comes a long...a lot of people are going to explore the new opportunity.
I have really enjoyed GLB, but the games have gotten unrealistic. I really want to see GLB succeed and be a long time customer....but to be honest...when a competitor comes around...I may be leaving too.
I still enjoy GLB...but not as much as I once did...or as much that I could if things were better. I wish things would get better, but I am discouraged at statements that Bort wont do such & such...or doesn't acknowledge there are issues. If there was better communication and people taking ownership...GLB would have a great long successful future. Instead I do think GLB will be a 2 year hit....and people will move to Copycat GLB .com They will advertise realistic MMORPG where wil listen to the customer because they come 1st.
Here's hoping to people sending me this thread 3 years from now saying I was DEAD WRONG and GLB rules. I really hope that happens.
Well I am officially done bitching and will just enjoy GLB as is since there are things that will not be changed....maybe one day I will enjoy 8 Special team TD's.....triple digit scores like basketball....and guys in quadruple coverage making 1 hand grabs for TD's.

Nice post bro....
Competition was inevitable. Like every other "new technology" that was first to market, GLB will make many more mistakes than subsequent competitors that come to market after GLB. One thing that is very obvious is that GLB has never learned anything from its mistakes (it wouldn't surprise me if the creators of GLB couldn't even pinpoint where they went wrong). Not only do they continue to repeat the same marketing blunders season after season, the errors are becoming more and more egregious.
The one advantage that GLB had was the opportunity to create brand loyalty by being first. There certainly isn't a lot of confidence in the GLB brand right now. After the most recent mind blowing mistakes like the double standard created by the "test server" fiasco, the creation of moderators that are also gamers, and yet another unwarranted overhaul of the simulation, the current GLB brand is dead. This is shaping up to be a classic case study of why a breakthrough technology is absolutely worthless in the absence of marketing.
The most tragic is this thread. What changes need to be made? Wow. It was these kinds of changes that created the problem to begin with. I applaud the intentions of the original poster..... but the problems with GLB run much deeper than a stupid VA or why my 40 sack LB/DE can't even get a hurry anymore. GLB really needs to revaulate who it's customers are (this is a very segmented consumer population) and why each customer type is here.

No offense taken, but it seemed there was at least a moderate amount of agreement made with many of the points I made...
What about them, is it that makes none of them make sense, or workable in the current sim?

Good advice. I've been successfully running zone heavy D's in multiple locations with well over 100 custom plays. Pure zone, zone blitzes, mixed coverage, etc.
