Unless any stat-based system is focused on what you do against the TOP competition in your league it's a waste of time.

Think about it - which player would you elect to the pro-bowl if you had to choose only one?

DE - 51 sacks, 25 hurries, 57 tackles, 7 tackles for loss
DE - 32 sacks, 31 hurries, 48 tackles, 5 tackles for loss

You'd think it would be a no-brainer looking at the RAW stats, until you realize that:

Player A had 0 Sacks, 5 hurries, 32 tackles, 2 tackles for loss against the top 8 teams in the conference
Player B had 11 Sacks, 12 hurries, 22 tackles, 2 tackles for loss against the top 8 teams in the conference

Pro-Bowl players should not be elected based on an overall highly skewed stat-based system where all the stats were collected against the weakest teams in the conference. Pro-Bowl WORTHY players are the guys who MAKE HAY against the BEST teams in the conference.

Also, VASCO's point is spot-on. If you are a LB/SS on a bad team - you are gonna have a shitload of tackles. That doesn't mean you are good, just means you are out there for a TON of plays and a lot of people in front of you whiffed repeatedly or were blocked into the turf.

Yea because in real life they look at your stats against the top teams to see if you should go to the pro bowl. If you have a great season stat wise you get in its simple. The other guy should have had better stats against the shitty teams and he gets in.

Good point EXCEPT both of these players would have played against the same teams, so the playing field is even. On the Safetys, Tackles are divided by 4 which really cuts down the problem of them playing on gutted teams.

One flaw I see here.

Swerdan:

Dow:

Who would you rather see play? My guy had 17 more TDs. The only thing I can see to make a big difference is my fumbles. How ever if they are not lost it should be that big of a deplete.

I think that those 102 points created by Swerdan more than make up for the 5 more Lost fumbles.

You're looking at the score at the top, which doesn't add properly. To get an HB's score add rushing and receiving and subtract 3xlost fumbles.

OLine: (Pancakes/5)-(Sacks Allowed)

Problem being, currently you don't keep track of sacks allowed.

There are several stats that need to be added and that is one them. Hence the italics.
