What are you talking about?

I didn't mean to imply that coming in 2nd was losing the WL. I meant the people in the bottom 40% of the league, not everyone but the winner.

I don't pay much attention to PeeWee but the feel of it when I had a guy or so there was nothing like the pyramid this game started out as. I will say it again. The problem's with the promotion system aren't the system itself, it is the bent rules that take place to make a mockery of it.

2nd is just the first place loser to me.

Yeah, I think it's a microwave mentality. Let's hurry up and move teams around as far as possible to try and get an expected result while ignoring the fact it won't accomplish anything natural progression would accomplish but would only make things more murky.

So explain the pyramid to me like I'm stupid.

How many leagues are there? How tall is it? How wide is it? How do you promote? How do you demote?

I dunno, I just don't the the existence of a Ladder schedule and a promotion/demotion and pyramidish league structure together. Which is why I don't nearly begin to understand why that is sort of happening in GLB2. (not the ladder promotion but the existence of the ladder and gold/silver/copper etc..)

I actually have no idea what they are planning to do next season. I haven't paid any attention to the promotion system in GLB2 at all.

Do you believe the original pyramid system failed because of promotion/demotion problems?

The teams would sort themselves out through league play. As bhall stated, the real issues have come from teams refusing promotions, being allowed to change leagues, and swapping out rosters to dominate weaker leagues. Eliminate all the bullshit and natural promotion would work fine. This is really on the admins, tbh.

I do know that a pyramid structure cannot/shouldn't work in GLB2 because it is an age-based promotion system.

Rookie-Soph-Something-Something-Vet... then they have plateau, which fucks things up in both GLB1 and 2 because you have more teams coming in than you have going out each season for the first four or five seasons. Then you either need to force the teams at the top to restart, or you create a glut (assuming that you don't get too many teams quitting).

Last Corndog explained was Gold/Silver/Copper leagues on the test server. Granted league structures changed from that point and what not but it just doesn't make any sense to me to move teams to different leagues when the ladder system is fun because it branches you out from your league while you can create an actual league rivalry if you stay within your league. Makes more sense to me if you can swap leagues through support if you really are trying to get into a different league rather than forcing all the good teams into one league so that they are constantly playing each other in league and ladder games every day.

Naw it would be like the cloud. Except that is dumb for the reasons I just explained.

I can't say for sure what killed it, but I have ideas.

The original system failed because for the first 10 seasons you weren't running an age-based league, so the oldest players had a training and SP advantage. There were all kinds of problems with the financial system that I believe were the real downfall of that system.

The reason for the age based leagues was to kill the non-booster, imo. It meant that all teams were on a level playing field, so long as they were paying to play.

This created a system where you had age-based minor leagues that fed into a pyramid-based league.

I was just wondering...

Did we ever have a single season where there weren't large amounts of fuckery taking place? Was the pyramid ever given a real chance?
