Bolick is right, TO's are #1 factor in how well a team fares. Win this battle u probly win the game. See Tony Turnover in Dal, great stats but one bad game of TO's and boom. Alex Smith took high % throws and avoided dangerous ones in SF. When u dnt have a Bree's or Brady u should be asking your QB to do one thing, dnt lose the game for u. If the rest of the team is decent this type of offense can take u a decent way.

their more options than Brees and Brady. like Luck for example 2nd in the league in turnovers but his ability as a qb gives the team a great chance to win games. it's more about when the turnovers happen not just the turnovers

Defense looked better when Tebow was getting first downs and winning time of possession. They've been damned impressive this season, though.

Not really, as Indy is an exception and a fraud. The Colts lost by 26 to the Jets and gave Jacksonville one of their two wins. Somehow they did beat the Packers and Texans, but aside from that their wins came against mostly putrid opponents. Get a little lucky against a weak schedule and you can make the playoffs.
Playoff teams' turnover margins
1. New England Patriots +25
3. Washington Redskins +20
5. Seattle Seahawks +13
5. Atlanta Falcons +13
7. Houston Texans +12
8. San Francisco 49ers +9
8. Baltimore Ravens +9
10. Green Bay Packers +7
11. Cincinnati Bengals +4
17. Minnesota Vikings -1
17. Denver Broncos -1
26. Indianapolis Colts -12

Have you honestly never heard the expression about keeping your mouth shut and letting people think you're a fool rather than opening your mouth and proving it? There are no quarterbacks in this class who even have the chance to be "franchise" type guys. Why waste a pick and a season developing a guy who will always be no better than below average? Other people aren't advocating Alex Smith as a franchise savior, but rather as an adequate stop-gap until such a time as the Chiefs can take a quarterback worth drafting.
You are a complete fool to sit here and say none of the guys in this class ever have a chance to be a franchise guy. How can you be so moronic to make a statement like that. Every year there QBs either high draft picks or diamonds in the rough that turn into franchise guys, and you think this draft is any different? What a fuckin idiot!
Also, yes Wilson does have the same style of play as Rodgers, is he as good as Rodgers? Of course not, however many "experts" and scouts had Rodgers as a 2nd rounder as they have Wilson now as well. You have probably never even watched Wilson play, and you sit here laugh at a comment, just because you are a douchebag.
Whats funny is that you Panthers realized the same thing. They are gonna suck until they get a QB, so they draft a QB with their 1st pick in Clausen, then again the next year draft a QB 1 overall in Cam. In today's NFL you arent gonna win it all without a good QB. Also, if you remember at this time of the year Cam was projected by most to be a mid to late 1st rounder but shot up come draft time.

If your team spends their 1st round pick on d-linemen every other year all 3, 5, and 11 overall and your team is still the worst in the league, i am sure you wouldnt want another d-lineman.

Interesting that Denver has -1 turnover but seem to be the favorites. And most of these teams have studs at QB
Also, what team do you think would have a better chance to win a ship. Tebow leading the Jets or Luck leading the Jets. Seems like an easy answer.

The differences between my use of invective and yours are both that mine is creative and entertaining as opposed to your banal tripe, and that mine is backed by intelligent points in contrast to your comical ignorance. 2010, 2007, 2003, and 2002 were all devoid of "franchise guys," while 2009 and 2008 would fall into that category as well depending upon how generously you apply that term (I wouldn't use it on Stafford or Ryan, but some might). I'm guessing 2011 will go down that way as well, but it's too early to call. So no, it isn't true that "every year" there is a "franchise guy."

Not. At. All. The two things that stand out most about Aaron Rodgers are his pinpoint accuracy (especially downfield, as that's incredibly rare) and his aversion to risky throws. Wilson has neither of those. He is a gutsy player with solid arm strength and an ability to elude pass rushers, but he forces throws into coverage and his accuracy is average at best. And for the record, at the time I wrote in our magazine that the 49ers were making a mistake by choosing Alex Smith over Aaron Rodgers, although I didn't think he'd be making a case for the greatest QB ever.

I'm pretty sure the Panthers still suck, and for the record, Cam was by far the most inaccurate red zone passer in the league this season. I have the avatar because it amuses me, not because I like Newton as a player.

Mid, yes, but not late. Frankly that's where he should have gone. Blaine Gabbert is the one who shot up for nothing to first round pick because teams were desperate to take someone.

I see you don't understand the concept of independent events. What do previous selections have to do with whether or not Lotulelei will be a good player?

Just New England, Green Bay, and Denver. The others mostly have solid guys, but hardly exceptional (if you're not judging them against their experience).

Neither is the easy answer. Luck in three or four years probably will be a championship-caliber quarterback, but right now he most certainly isn't.

Im just curious... just because a team NEEDS a QB, does that warrent using your #1 draft pick on one regardless of tallent? The answer to that question is NO. Where would Washington be if they wasted a pick last year during the draft when all these idiots were yelling at how dumb Shanny was for passing on one and drafting Kerrigan. Id say it worked out. Morale of the story, dnt be foolish and waste a pick on a subpar QB that will set u back for years potentially. Same goes for FA QB,s make sure u know hes the man cause if not your fucked money wise. KC would be smart to pick a sure thing with the first pick and then hope for a Tannehill, Weeden, Foles etc type in the 2nd - 4th rnd. This avoids blowing your #1 pick on a loser, secures u a starter somewhere else, and u still get to have a try for a new QB without risking too much.

Of course Luck is better than Tebow, but neither would have any chance of winning a championship right now. And Tebow is a legitimate quarterback. His throwing motion is awful, but his low completion percentage was a product of Denver designing a poor offense that had a majority of throws going to the sideline. Tebow had a QB rating over 90 in 2011 on all throws not to the sideline.

Nice post bolick, a lot of truth in it, and i respect that. The thing is, i have been a Chiefs fan for over 20 years, and it has gotten old with the lack of attention the most important position has received. I do understand previous years draftees have nothing to do with this year's prospects at the same position. I like Star, i really do and i will be happy if we draft him. However, we have to make an honest attempt to find a QB, and i feel Wilson in the 2nd is a perfect shot if he is still there.
I think you are completely wrong about Wilson's accuracy, he has absolutely no help on his team and his WRs drop many balls a game that are right on the money and affects his completion percentage. He has a ton of heart and can make any NFL type of throw. Plus avoiding pressure, scrambling, and being accurate on the run is something i havent seen from a Chiefs QB in a very long time and is very enticing to me. I guarantee, he will get a lot of attention through the offseason and combine, and will shoot up boards. Mark my words.
