you're not going to put fucking Halifax in the west or North Delta in the east. that would be beyond retarded.

What if one region sends down more than two teams at the end of the season?
We will remove CPU teams first, to allow room for them. If there are not enough CPU teams, additional teams will be demoted from the Pro league to AAA, and on down the line from AAA to AA, and/or AA to Minor Leagues. There are usually enough CPU teams along the way down to make up for the extra demotions, and once we reach those CPUs, extra demotions will stop.

Will teams end up in the same conference when they are sent back down?
We will try our best to put the teams back in the same conference. Sometimes, however, there may be instances where that is impossible, so a team may have to switch conferences.

The World League is a "make the playoffs or go home" league. At the end of the season, the bottom 8 teams from each conference will be sent back down to the Pro league they came from, and replaced with the conference champions from each Pro league.

Sooo......conference champions automatically make it, but what if the bottom 8 teams from each conference aren't enough? Does this mean that you could eventually have 16 teams from one Pro league in the World League?

For some reason I thought it was a zero sum game for the regions in the WL. If only 1 guy demotes from Canada, only one can go up.

Taking that logic to the extreme, if the world league ever gets imbalanced where seriously say

USAPL has 18 representatives, and the other regions only 2 (the worst the imbalance can get since conf champs also get promoted). Then say 10 of the 18 USA teams don't make the playoffs.....thinking of the ramifications for USAPL. You could conceivably have playoff teams being demoted down to AAA

I also thought that the original plan was to demote 2 teams from each region each season. I'm not sure I like having all the non-playoff teams demote. I can see advantages either way, I guess.

But what if the only two teams from a region are playoff teams? Or conference champions? Or league champion + runner up?

The whole thing is a giant fucking mess, and will be a source of many lulz.

Bolded the best bit.

The way to do it seems obvious to me. The CPL conference champions should go up, the two worst former CPL teams in WPL should come down. Rinse and repeat.

Whatever it is that we think Bort has said he will do won't happen. It'll be something entirely different than that, the opposite approach or the one that he proclaims to be the final word between now and then.

Demoting 2 teams from each region each season is much simpler in terms of relegation issues.
Demoting the 16 non-playoff teams each season makes for a more competitive World League.
That's what I see as the primary advantages on both sides.
