If you read this through, I don't think it would work. No one would take a job as any position except mybe OC and DC, everyone would demand to be Head Coach.

i think D players should get 2 of their own trees, not just 1 D tree and one ST tree...give them a pass D one and a run D one...then make an ST one for K/P

I don't feel like reading through all of this, so I don't know what's been said already... but here is what was suggested in our team forum. You can add whatever you need to the OP if any of it is useful to you.

That's true. I may do that with one guy if there actually was a bonus. Like increasing catching/vision by a few % for our receivers if Jack Tyler is their position coach?

edit for genius: And, their career end atts dictate their new set of coaches attributes, which then affect the bonuses that they can give the team/position. All new free agent market with coaches. Training is replaced by 'studying'... study game film to improve gameplanning (adds confidence bonus to your team) and playcalling (adds vision bonus to your team), study motivational speaking to improve team morale in game,... obviously needs more options. But, this could add a completely new dimension to the game/site.

second edit: all new CAs (coaching abilities) that could be raised by some sort of XP/SP system, or perhaps just a static amount based on your player's career end attributes. ie: high vision would translate to higher number in 'Audible Calling'-bonus to recognition of a play, and calling the appropriate audible counter.

about the Coaching Abilities, a system just like VAs would work great with this. The longer removed from your 'playing days' the more 'CXP' you get every night, to a capped point of course. And naturally this whole idea would require that their be a coaches' decline after some number of seasons I suppose. However, that could be like 20 seasons, or more. Perhaps your flex invested in your player declines as the seasons go on. 70%, then when you become a coach it goes to 60%, after 10 years as a coach 50%, and so on...

The idea is great but in order for it not to take away from the game but add to is, you have to make sure coaches will be something like chemistry where it has a slight impact but nothing that will dstroy your team if you choose to go without.

I think the positional coach would be more ideal if you gave them an incentive for long term. Where Knowledge is an attribute for head coach and the longer you spend as a positional coach, the more knowledge you gain as an OC or DC and the longer you spend as an OC or DC, the more knowlege you gain as an Headcoach. Of course a headcoach will have more Experience pts if he start from Day 1 but a player who starts out as a positional coach will gain more knowlege quicker than a headcoach

So, I'm working all this stuff out, getting code written, etc, etc and I realize:

We have nothing for these coaches to spend money on.

Obviously, we want the coach to require the team to pay him. He needs some reason to have a salary.

Do we do training at the same costs as players?
Equipment?

Either/or is easy. It would be interesting to have some other stuff to spend on as well.

How about a skill that increases the rate that chemistry improves.

Equipment sounds good if they have skills to improve.

Equipment items could be:

Baseball cap.
Sunglasses
Visor
Whistle

Wind breaker
Suit Jacket
Trench Coat

Dress pants
Sweat pants
Jeans

Dress shoes
Sneakers
Flip Flops

I think both would be ideal. If its possible.

I love this...but if they are getting paid and getting equipment it will put yet another strain on the financial status of teams which was just alleviated by the league bonuses. Is there gonna be something to counter that? Maybe a higher league bonus or a higher expected price/max? Just a concern!

I really love this though...I have wanted coaches for over a year!!

5% tops...and you can't really just scout one player, it would really be a play type thing...maybe 5% decrease to certain plays you scout

Why do they have to be retired players? Not every coach was a player. Why not have it be something you can spend flex on and develop?

I think everyone should be able to coach myself. I don't understand why it's only for players that are 440 days old.
