Make WR's be able to go to CB/S real easy, but make the opposite a little worse (so people still will build 300 FP guys). QB would have to have a decent OOP, most QB's I assume would only play QB. Make OL and DL pretty easy to go between, but the same type of thing with the WR to CB and what not. And LB to RB/FB/TE all fairly easy.
That way there is still OOP's, but more minimal, and it also promotes making the more expensive guys for Bort's side of things.
Again, not sure how hard it would be to set the OOP's up just for this league, but if it was not too hard, could do something like that
Yeah, we discussed this a bit, but the consensus seems to be that the best chance to get this done is to make it as simple to implement as possible. Keep the OOPs the way they are, keep all the options and tactics and etc just the way they are. Just limit the roster size to 15 players.
Could the OOPs use a little tweaking for this kind of league? Of course. Could we use some better player creation options for Iron Man players? Absolutely.
But we understand Bort is working his heart out trying to make this game better and give people all the little bells and whistles they clamor for, at the same time trying to keep the competitive balance fair and remove anything that can be used as an exploit. We support that.
We'd just like to get an Iron Man league started and see where it goes from there. If it's a complete failure, no harm, no foul (although I don't think it will be judging from the response generated just from this suggestion thread). We can retire the players and go back to the traditional game.
If it's a success, then maybe in the future when the game has its kinks better ironed out and Bort and Co. have time to devote to specialty leagues, we can revisit some of the OOPs and player creation options. We'll have a better idea after a few seasons whether we even need these things anyway.
For now, we can just consider OOPs and player creation limits part of the advanced strategy for an Iron Man league. All we need is the roster limits.
