I can see why you only allow people of the culture in the team, but if that's so, you may need to change your wording..

1. If your team is simply to raise acceptance of different people, than allowing straight people who support your cause onto the team is the only way you'll succeed.

2. Now, if this is a social team for the GLBTQ of Football, then it should be ok to deny straight people access. Their is undeniably a gay culture now, and it should be allowed, just as people hold clubs for nationalities are even common interests.

3. The most noble thing this could be, in my mind, is a team which is set on disproving the theories which you've been mocked at, including mainly that gays cannot interact with each other non-sexually, as well as the idea that gays can be powerful, strategic, and more importantly people who love football. Having straight people on the team would be bad for that purpose, but still, simply having a decent ratio of GLBTQ, would that not be fair as well?

By the way, in general I highly support what you are doing. I'm straight, but Vice President of my school's Gay Straight Alliance, and to see you do this against this sort of audience is a powerful statement.
