EDIT: An alternate option for the AI would be to have a check box on whether or not the TE is shifted. If he is, then we know the play is a pass and can call a pass blitz to the (new) weak side.

THATS NOT TRUE^, just because Madden for any game system, says it doesn't mean its actually how things are in real football. Go ask a quarterback to identify a play he says well here is the Strong LB, or ask someone scheming up a defensive game plan and he'll say, 'well the tight end is on the right so our Sam(Storng side backer) is always on the same side of the formation. Should be Strong and Weak, really would help with the depth chart because most of the time the Strong would be more run focused and Weak would be your faster guy that can fly around all over the field.
