I voted HELL NO. We do not need another "league" to further divide the userbase. You guys would not create extra dots for this league... it would come at the expense of part of the player base that is being built for the current existing leagues.

Just face it... this is a gimmicky idea that should never happen. Wish this thread would just get locked already.

I kinda agree with this, if you want an ironman game you can set up a scrimmage and set your DC accordingly, no real need for whole extra leagues imo. League Underground operate quite well off of scrimmages so no reason this couldn't too.

wtf does 'divide the user base' even mean? are you implying that if there were no pee-wee and casual leagues, everyone would be hanging out together chatting about making dots? worst argument ever imo.

it's not like this would require any effort on anyone's part. just make a league where the roster limit is 20. that's it; it'd probably take about 10 minutes to code, if that.

who cares if only 100 owners did it.

Right now I'm sitting on a pile of flex. If IML was running now, I'd use some of that flex on a player or 2, which is more than what I'm doing now.

I just don't get how something this simple can really be getting this much opposition. If I was Bort, I would be inventing new ways for players to blow flex every day. When something this simple came along, I'd be all over it.

If you don't like the concept don't play, but quit pissing on everyone elses parade.

i'm sorry I don't follow your empty rhetoric. I hope I'm not the only one that isn't.

Things like this are the reason no one listens to your ideas.

We've already lost agents to boredom who would've stuck around to play Iron Man.

The userbase is already divided with casual/regular/peewee. One more won't kill it, and it will probably generate more interest/money

So what if they stayed and played Iron Man. Fact of the matter is that adding this new league would dilute the players available for the existing leagues. Sure some would spend more flex to try out this league while continuing to play the ones they currently play now. Yes, those that left may have stayed and continue spending money. However, the overwhelming majority of those that would choose to play this league would do so by not playing the existing ones (instead of building 4 new players for existing leagues... they may build only 2 for existing and 2 for IML... even if its just 3:1, the existing leagues are losing out). With effort being made to improve league structure and things like the extended plateau (an idea I pushed for probably more than anyone), the leagues are becoming more competitive again. Adding the IML would just be a step in the wrong direction. Nothing makes us more bored than playing uncompetitive games... dilute the existing leagues and more and more of us will get bored again. The IML would just be a temporary stop to use up some of our already spent flex on our way out.

Probably true now. Wasn't true 10 seasons ago.

I admit, though, that I do find it interesting (and amusing) that the opposition to this idea centers around the belief that it would become too popular and draw players away from the "real" game, therefore dividing the user base.

QFT. People are living this game due to boredom currently. Beenlurken you're just being an asshole.

I disagree that it will just be a temporary stop. IMO it's a whole new game and people have to learn (through wasting flex) how to best build a team. And unlike the normal game, where there is only about 50 variations of builds (2 per position with a few extra) you can use, in an IML there is more like 50,000. You can play QB at QB, and then also build him for DTX2, DEX2 so on so forth.

Some of the basics remain, but the variations are just multiplied. You also have to factor in an unknown out of position penalty (although some are pretty easy to guess).

Who cares if it dilutes the player pool. That dillution will eventually lead to a natural cutback in the # of regular or casual teams therefore returning avail players and teams in need to the semi-crappy balance it has now. Your argument for dividing the userbase, losing potential players is weak. It's just simple economics, supply and demand. If you want to argue about losing out on the total # of teams, just take solace in knowing that any teams lost in regs/casual would be replaced by 1 or 2 iron man teams. Now I'm not saying IML will take over or take a lions share of the system, but merely suggesting that your chicken-little fears are just a tad exaggerated.

although I like the idea of having an ironman league, if the real concern is with the dilution of the leagues (which is somewhat ridiculous), then why can't the ironman league at least just be a side league, at least in the beginning stages anyway. Since you don't loose any extra stamina or anything like that, you could always play on two different leagues, just don't give them xp for the ironman league.

Or, if people really wanted to build an ironman player and you still were concerned about the dilution, then they could pay a little extra to create a second build that would have its own leveling system, but used the same player. In that system, the player would essentially have two builds and would pay to have the second build for the ironman league. You could put in something that would make the person care about the regular build, such as requiring the person to boost the regular player or some other thing.
