At 1-3, well, soon to be 1-3, I need to build for the future. Get active low level players who grow with the team. I'm not counting out the playoffs, but I need to do something if I want to get there as well.

I just don't want this to happen to us tonight. http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=13913

sockcorn....

If you don't have a lot of flex points to build players (and sell them for cash leading to better players), or a large group of friends to pool resources, or 5 farm teams because you were one of the first people here:

Then you do need to think long term. there is a strong social element to this game. getting people on the team to cooperate, forgo PT and $ for the sake of the team, etc is necessary for winning. Also, if you save $ for stadium expansion and are a sound financial manger, and only look for players in a glut, and only sell players in a drought, I would think you could do well long term.

Nike is very right. I would gladly take a paycut to keep my team where it is than to be greedy and try to fight for more money. Especially since money does not get you much in lower levels. Flex points are a need if you want to be good in my opinion.

I'm wondering when we'll see the next power rankings? Was it Griz doing those for us?

Luckily, I've found a bunch of great guys who don't mind their PT, don't want more cash than they need, and a lot of them contribute to planning the games. I think I'm doing well financially, I have $2,000,000 and a fully human roster.

That's why it's so aggravating that there are a handful of guys not taking care of their player's energy. Especially the higher level ones. The guys I don't mind replacing are the ones who don't watch their players, don't contribute, and go inactive.

But I have a great group of guys to build toward the future with, so I happy. If only I can get everyone on the same page. I'm almost there.

Have you created your co-captains yet? I handle the Defense for our owner while our QB handles the offense. He tweaks our gameplans that we present to him and we handle each game. Our respective defense/offense does not gripe to the owner about game issues except for a new contract when you outlevel the current one or things of that nature. All playing time/character build questions go directly to us to handle. We handled all that before the season began though so im not sure how hard it is trying to rally your team now.

Well, I have a GM. He came to me out of nowhere after I bought the team and asked if he could help me build the team. Which was great, he's helped me bring players in and answer questions.

As for character build, we have a thread dedicated to that. Players can ask how to build a player and everyone can give advice. Same with game tactics, we have a thread right now called "5/2 Manhattan Massacre" where any and everyone can tell us what they find in replays, game logs, ect. Then as a team we discuss the best strategy to use.

And I've told everyone on my team, that if they need more money for equipment upgrade or something like that, all they have to do is tell me how much they need and they'll get it. I haven't really had any PT complaints. Actually, the level 5 HB starting over the level 8 was something they came to an agreement on.

my power rankings? probably tomorrow, after 4 games have been played.. i was hoping to do 1 yesterday but have not been feeling well.. and then it got too close to new games changing it in a few hours that id thought id wait..

for more reasons than that it would be nice if these games were simmed hours earlier, as you waste a lot of time before you can do anything if you need to go to sleep..

ya sock we do the same pre game and post game threads. My team comes to me and asks what they need to build for my defense. I stress certain things over others which may be why we can keep going the whole game instead of having a lull in the middle half. Less than 4 hours GAME ON

ON the Knights we do it pseudo democratically. the coordinators basically present proposals that we all kick around. then we go with the consensus.

by the way, league 16 has power ratings, RPI, and ELO Chess. whichever guy is doing all that, one of us has to trade for him and bring him to our league! lol.

using the elo myself for chess i can say that it looked very odd.. the gaps wernt as big at all between best and worst, and the newer should be super blownout, so i dont get whats going on there..
for chess a super GM might be in the 2700s where a crappy player might be 1100..
theres are all in the 1500 and 1600s.. but i guess like he said it must take time to build if he cant do a provisional system.. and i wonder what parts of the game hes grading the with system..

the elo goes something like this-
New Rating = Old Rating + K * (Score - Win Expectancy)
K is a constant (32 for 0-2099, 24 for 2100-2399, 16 for 2400 and above)
Score is 1 for a win, 0.5 for a draw and 0 for a loss.
The Win Expectancy is calculated using the following formula :
Win Expectancy = 1 / (10^((OpponentRating-YourRating)/400)+1
Win Expectancy = 1 / (10^(-200/400)+1) = 0.76
Note: ^ = "to the power of", e.g. 2^3=8.

My owner doesn't have any gameday threads, no GM (that I've ever seen), no player build suggestions, and apparently no Inbox.
