Perhaps he means nothing of importance has changed, and that would be a true statement depending on what he finds important. Just because you like it and the route it has taken does not mean I and others must. I am still there, but I hate the route it is continuously taking.

eh Im pretty sure the whole point of glb2 coming out was to have a game more in line of the original vision and fix some of the flaws of glb1 that they have found along the way (difficult for new users to grasp etc). So in essence glb2 is supposed to be better than glb1 as its obvious they are putting their time into glb2 and no longer into developing glb1.
your comparison about madden vs ncaa should not indicate madden 11 vs ncaa 13. It should be madden 13 vs ncaa 13. If EA was no longer improving madden on a year to year basis no one would buy the game anymore. glb1 shouldnt really be in this position of being considered outdated, because it should be constantly evolving in order to keep interest. unfortunately that doesnt seem to be on the horizon for glb1.

That wouldn't be a better comparison at all.
There really isn't much for valid comparisons. They aren't remotely even similar games when you play them outside of the offense plays being the same and some similar sa concepts.
Visually they are vastly different.
The mechanics are a lot different.
Building, while having a simpler feel, is different.
Gameplanning, while similar to casual in some basic ai elements is well beyond casual's control.

As far as the idea around glb2 it is being marketed as a game with an easier barrier than classic between your everyday noob and the more advanced. Thus far that holds true.
