So different rules for different people? That's exactly what banning APL teams would be too. Hey, they've shown their teams do not win many games in the WL, they have shown they are incapable of producing a team that can win the whole thing, so why even have them here at all? I'm not saying it isn't a stupid argument, I'm saying it's the same argument you are making with Alpine. Not buying the "same people" argument at all, you earn your right to be in the WL, and in some years 9th place is good enough.

Even if it's the "same people", the team has played 24 playoff games in the WL with a 0.500 record. If that's constant failing then you are setting a ceiling you can't even reach yourself.

In fact I'm pretty sure I could dig up quotes from you when this was being discussed initially years ago that allowing the 9th seed to stay would be the best idea. What team gets 9th place should be completely irrelevant, it's not like you can plan for it.

thanks everyone else for arguing for us. we would of course love to stay but if Hogwarts stays then we're out. it would have been nice if cav and I had a bit more time to gameplan this season, but alas I work 70 hour weeks and Norwegians go on vacation every other week. not the best combination

No, it isn't even remotely close to being the same, much less "exactly." Because a team is from Region X means absolutely nothing regarding their performance. Have you been to school beyond sixth grade and therefore had at least some exposure to the concept of independent events? Different teams from the same region are independent. Categorizing them based on their region of origin is no different than grouping teams based on their first letter or what color they use for their dots. The success or failure of other teams from that region is completely fucking irrelevant to whether or not the next team will have success or failure.

What part of that do you fail to grasp? Why would previous APL teams have any bearing whatsoever on Bambey or Nairobi? Nairobi's previous success is what has bearing, not what region they come from. Similarly, Alpine's repeated failure is extremely relevant to Alpine while entirely irrelevant to their region. They've received the free pass over and over again and continuously wasted everyone's time by missing the playoffs every time they've gotten it. That's their history, not a region's. Theirs. When a team has received the free pass that many times and has always failed to do anything with it, they should forfeit any right to receive it again. Someone else who hadn't constantly failed should get the opportunity.

Yes, we know that's what you're saying. We also know that because you believe it, you are obviously a moron. Anyone with a fully functioning brain can tell you that they're not remotely equatable, and that by insisting otherwise you come across as colossally stupid. Teams are independent, so what other teams from the same region have done is completely irrelevant to them. What that particular team has done, especially in recent seasons, is highly relevant. Please stop posting before you embarrass yourself any further by showing an inability to understand even the most basic distinctions. No one wants to see you look like an even bigger idiot than you already do.

For some reason I thought this was the actual policy, but if Porto got MPHD's slot this season then obviously not. Maybe it was in the discussion when the leagues condensed.

If a WL team declines its playoff spot then a WL team gets it. If a Pro team declines promotion to reset then a Pro team gets it.
