Then, anyone could customize their own private league to suit their needs.

That would be a great idea for its own suggestion thread

I like your color-themed players, by the way.

lol thanks. They'll all have equipment those colours too, when AEQ doesn't get in the way, of course.

If I remember though isn't Custom Leagues on the NGTH list?

Seems odd that they'd list that as a NGTH item when it's sole purpose would be to get like minded people together and pretty much ensure even competition.

Iron Man football dates back to the game's origins, where players are forced to play on both sides of the ball because of limited roster sizes and limited substitution rules..

It would be fairly easy to accomplish. Simply limit the roster size to 15 guys and let agents build guys to fit both an offensive and defensive slot. This would open up a wide range of strategies for owners, GMs and agents, and it would create some truly unique builds.

The genius of this idea lies in its simplicity: nothing more would need be done than to limit roster sizes.

UPDATE:

Points that have been discussed thus far in the thread:

Create an Iron Man football league by limiting the roster sizes to 15. No other changes to the game's coding are needed.

There has been some discussion that OOP (out of position) penalties should be waived or changed for this league, but a strong argument has been made that the existing OOPs could simply be considered a part of the Iron Man league's strategy.

Some benefits of adding this league would include more player creation (money for GLB), more unique builds resulting from players going both ways (more in line with Bort's original vision of the game), and a different experience and different strategies for current GLB agents, owners and GMs. Smaller roster sizes also would help to create a better sense of community and help with coordination/communication for the entire team. And, a big plus, the player you make and pay for would be on the field a LOT, meaning you get more bang for your buck and don't end up riding the pine.

A caveat: It would probably be best to start this league as a Level 1 league for the first season to encourage players built simply for Iron Man football and to discourage any shenanigans like a team of Level 50 players coming in and rolling over the newly created guys. The cap limits could be gradually raised just as they are in other leagues to allow Iron Man time to grow and find its own footing.

i actually love the idea, having guys like this would make the game thatmuch more interesting. haha, kicker/punters own!

Well that would be a decision by the team owner what style offense they would run. I think this is a great idea and wish it would happen.

This would make for a good seperate Casual League, I'd be happy to run a team and make players for something like this.

This sounds like a great idea. IMO make a casual league for this. But I would love this.

It would make me want to make more players again, and I would buy another team in these leagues. Gets rid of the cookie cutter builds

Amazing Idea in my opinion. Would add flavor to a near-dead game now. And do a limited AI for this. Not casual, but maybe a set template for AI to use, to simplify things. Anyway, I love this.

One more thing, not sure how hard it would be. But something for the OOP penalty. Make WR's be able to go to CB/S real easy, but make the opposite a little worse (so people still will build 300 FP guys). QB would have to have a decent OOP, most QB's I assume would only play QB. Make OL and DL pretty easy to go between, but the same type of thing with the WR to CB and what not. And LB to RB/FB/TE all fairly easy.

That way there is still OOP's, but more minimal, and it also promotes making the more expensive guys for Bort's side of things.

Again, not sure how hard it would be to set the OOP's up just for this league, but if it was not too hard, could do something like that
