Bad analogy again. The felon had due process, and the laws were written before he broke them.

True. I'd agree with that.

However, there were still rules that were broken, and Bort and DD have the right to chose how the punishment is inflicted.

Since the T.O.S. that were in previous to the new "Forum Rules" were broken, he no longer has the rights to anything on the site. Them allowing him to continue playing, but without public or private forums is now their choice.

Back to that again. Bort and DD should not be in the business of punishing customers. They should be in the business of serving customers. This is the suggestion at its highest level. Saying that Bort and DD deem this or that is not a valid rebuttal to the actual suggestion.

Can you post a reason that banned players should not be allowed in my private forum that does not rely on what Bort and DD deem, or what you believe are Bort and DDs rights? Can you post an argument that is based in business sense and generally accepted wisdom?

I was under the impression that a permanently banned person isn't able to even log into their GLB account, so posting in private forums wouldn't really matter one way or another then, would it?

its not cut and dry because you just made that up though. Its not in the forum rules. I still maintain that I hope this whole situation was an oversight.

It's not an oversight believe me, so you can move from the fact that it's an oversight, to the fact they need to change the way they view things.

Also it is in the rules that you will lose forum privileges for breaking rules. It doesn't say that you will continue to have Private Forum access.

Despite the fact taht Deathblade's analogy in no way failed, I sitll +1 this thread. If someone has done something bad enough to be kicked out of the game, then they're gone. If they're still allowed to participate int he game and have just been banned (regardless of length of time) from the forum, then I support their ability to post in private forums.

My feeling is regardless of but heavily backed by the fact that bans are very subjective and not always warranted.

I know its tough to stop mid stream but can we stop making this about mal. The topic was broadened back on the first page to include not just perma suspended players but all suspended players. I know this is not entirely your fault that we are fixating so heavily on mal, but i would appreciate it if we stopped debating the merits of mals banning.

Well any users that are/have been/will be perma-banned or banned at all will have broken the rules, ESPECIALLY future breaking of the rules.

But if the rule they broke in the public forum would not even be breaking a rule in a private forum, which i repeat the mods have no power in, why would then a mod be able to ban them from the said private forum. Especially since it doesnt mention anything about that in the forum rules.

We are talking about permanent forum bans, not game bans.

Then what do you define as a forum ban?

I define it as when someone cannot post in the forums anywhere, ever.

So I mean...the argumetn is already flawed...HOWEVER...

I would go along with the 100 Flex spent, if the person has any private forums of their own, to be refunded, and their PF be removed.

Bort and DD can punish customers. A business can refuse to serve you if you have been causing a problem in their establishment. That is a form of punishment.

It is not YOUR private forum. It is a private forum that GLB is currently loaning to you.

Can you have people that are not members of this game post in that forum? Can you take that forum with you? To me that means it is not "Yours" but merely on loan from GLB.

lol, you're so lost.
forum banned people can still post in team forums for any teams they own, GM or have players on. Maybe team forums they're invited to, I'm not 100% on it.
they cannot post in public forums, or private forums they do not own even if the person who owns that forum invites them to it, which is why we have the argument.

Public Forum Ban = Admin/Mods have removed your ability to post in anything except your team forums, or private forums that you have paid for.

Due to the fact that private forums don't have RULES they have exceptions. If you do break rules in the public forums, you are no longer protected by the private forum exception.

But the suggestion is "They stop punishing customers". Telling me they do punish customers is not a rebuttal to the suggestion that they stop doing it.

Yes, congratulations, you've proven that Bort (why are we including DD here? >.> has the right to deny them access. That doesn't mean they should, though.

The goal of a ban is not and should not be to hurt the person being banned, but to protect the integrity of the forum and the happiness/safety/peace of mind of the other forum-users. Just because someone is stupid and posts a picture of a naked guy in the forum while they are drunk doesn't mean that they need to be restricted from posting about their team's gameplan in the private GM forum, does it?

I mean, in the restricted private forums, the mods and admins aren't there upholding the same rules as in public forums, so why should the punishment extend there?

I know they CAN. I don't know why they SHOULD.

Private forum rules. Let me show you them.
# General Rules regarding pornography, hate speech, racism, planning spam/hacking attempts, and illegal activity also apply to private forums.

Made up rules, let me show you them.
# Bans on public forums carry over to private forums as well.

"Next?"
