This. With the new PW buying format, you can choose which league you want to be in, so I'm going to see if we can all buy out a Copper League that would be CPUs otherwise.

Obviously, we can re-hash this whole debate if needed, but after a long and interesting debate, this is pretty much what was settled on previously as regards OOP

Q: What about the Out Of Position penalty (commonly referred to as OOP)?

There would be no change to the OOP for an Iron Man player. A WR will probably have to play CB on your Iron Man team, for example, and he won't play defense as well as he plays offense.

We consider this part of the strategy for Iron Man football.
Is it better to build a WR and play him also as a CB, or build a CB and play him also as a WR? That is the part for you to decide and figure out, and part of the increased challenge that has a big appeal in the 1000+ posts that have already been made about this idea.

thats awesome just thinking about it. would it be better to build all offense and be soft on defense? or build a hardcore defense and maintain field position and let things happen on offense? or build 1 offense and 1 defense team and play backup on the other? thats what people are going to do ya know. just have one offensive team and one defensive team and set the substitute rate way down.

But then you've got to make the choice between keeping those guys out there a lot and killing their energy so you could get killled late, or you could make subs and maintain a semi-respectable defense that would probably give up points throughout.

I'd like to see some battles with an all-offense team vs an all-defense, see who can win out that.

Just thinking about some of these potential matchups of different strategies is what makes the whole Iron Man League so compelling to me. I'm sure there are going to be a few low-substitution specialty teams, some high-flying offensive teams that aren't as strong on defense, and a bunch of defense-first smash-mouth teams who try to use strength on both sides of the ball.

Keeping the OOP, to me, is what makes the idea work.

Exactly. All the possibilities will make each team different and unique.

I live in southeast alabama lol, down here noone is going to survive iron man football. But it would be cool to have a league that way so you could experiment with different builds. instead of building a wide reciever you are also building a safety or cb. so i can see the interest in this.

it wouldnt take but a few seasons for everybody to figure out whats best, then retire and start over again lol. i honestly think it would be defense. just make a great defense, and let your offense work for itself. just throw a ss or lolb in there as a speed rb and let him do his thing. problem is going to be at qb. i think passing would have to be nerfed

When are Iron Man Leagues coming?

As I said - it's easier said then done and it's not a guarantee that we are going to do it. There are some issues surrounding player development acceleration that we have to take into consideration before deciding whether to do it or not.

No ETA on Iron Man Leagues but it's at top of Bort's to do list.

I think that if everyone focuses on one type of team as being the "best" ... then it's going to be easy to create a team that can beat just that one kind of team. And then someone else will create a type that can beat that type, and so on. It's like rock-paper-scissors, and since you only have 20 guys, you can't go too far in one direction without sacrificing something else. That's kind of the point.

And no, I do not think passing will have to be nerfed.

passing would have to be, that or your qb couldnt play defense cuz his throwing would be too high. it would have to be nerfed like pee wee is
