Just curious....

The game I am envisioning would not allow it to happen, first off. The entire point is that every dot on the field would belong there. Not just because you cherry picked the top 100 dots to put together. But because the dots would be better across the board. The game would be a "game of inches" as it were.

But to answer your question, no the tightening up of performance who not mean that a college dot should be able to play and compete with a pro dot.

Nah, yello has always been yello. I like him. He's become more vocal as more and more people have crossed the line between friendly banter and just being fucking mean. His suggestions aren't always well thought out, more of a "thinking out loud" situation, but there's sometimes a great idea masked behind his endless rambling.

He wears his heart on his sleeve, is thankful to be alive, and just tries to have a good time by engaging the GLB community. I don't know him well, just what I see on the forums. I've never PM'd him regarding his life changing/altering/saving event. I've never felt threatened by any of his teams. What I do know is he is probably more maliciously trolled than any other agent in GLB (maybe mikey has him beat here) and takes it with a grain of salt. He'll also immediately engage someone in a conversation, someone who has just trolled the shit out of him, and not once hold it against that person. For that, he has my respect.

Plus, he keeps the forums active. Including private forums... look, I just wrote a fucking story concerning him.

So yeah....

I can +1 that.

He helped me get out of a ban that I got for trolling him!!

That said... he goes after my STs and he will get the horns!!

He seems like a good guy and is definitely good for forum activity. I just hope Bort/Catch implement the polar opposite of everything he suggests.

How about a team of level 79's in decline (500+ days old)? Basically an "over the hill" pro team? Would it be OK if they beat your team?

I'm trying to make you understand that realistic outcomes are possible when teams are equally matched. When you are constantly on the wrong end of lopsided scores, it is understandable to point fingers at the system and cry foul. But if there ever comes a time when your team is clearly superior, and you get jobbed by a bad roll or shitty coin flip.... I suspect you'd be singing a different tune.

How about 600 days old? Remember Yello1, you argued that a 100 speed CB should be able to play competitively against a 160 speed WR. Even with decline, I am sure there are OLD dots out there that could manage 100 speed with equipment....

No what you are doing is ignoring or not getting part of the premise of everything I am saying.

No such imbalanced engagement would happen with my idea.

You are either ready to play in that league, or you are not there.

If you boost and build a level appropriate age appropriate dot, though, he will ALWAYS be ready to play in the league. Balanced dot builds so that the range of performance is tight enough that if you game plan well and or get some breaks you can win it even if your dots are not the best ones on the field that day. No one loses because one dot scores 10 TDs. Maybe you suck and you always lose. But still its not going to be by a huge score.

But you dont get on the field at Nat Pro if you are not a Nat pro dot. That has to be a part of the equation. Level 72 to 79 maybe 67s for the ST guys, thats all. And decliners get the boot to some seniors league.

Now if you decide to scrim outside your league, all bets are off.

Well obviously the first season decliners are okay.

But the 100 speed example has to be understood.

It doesnt mean he is going to be competitive on every play. But if he has all the stars aligned and the other guy does not (VA and SA wise energy morale etc) he wont be that far behind as he would now. 100 would still be a decent NFL DBack quality 40 yard dash. Just not the record setter a 160 speed would be.

But that assumes the other stats are there too. A decliner who holds on to 100 speed by means of 58 AEQ, and has 20 Agility 20 Stamina is not going to keep up nor should he. But he wouldn't be there either. Part of the sim has to be adhering to ALL of the aspects of NFL play and that means old dudes retire. Age CAP not just a floor.

As for the rest, ah gee. Thats nice.

Given that nice warm fuzzy, I will let it go. We will just have to disagree.

Then, conversely, putting a governor/handicap on dot performance by changing the build system would do very little to harm the game.

So why not try it?

easiest way would be to hold Bort to his original plan at the beginning of the game, attribute caps. If no one could have more than say 140 in any attribute, it would even it out and the bad dot builders would be closer to the elites.

I think the better question is:

Why not (\/).(',,,').(\/) ?
