First of all, season 2 is over tomorrow.
Secondly, this guy kinda reminds me of someone from the Bungles:

srromstarhammer,

when you engage on extraineous stuff, you allow them to change the subject and get into a back and forth with you where everyone is basically being petty. that puts them on equal footing.

stick to the core issue. they colluded to gut a team. done. don't let them talk about other things.

by the way, if people genuinelly feel that they cheated, then boycot them. forfeit the game by playing your kicker at QB, empty your depth chart, don't give them the satisfaction.

if they are trying to fix the situation, and Bort et al just don't do it, but they made a real effort and can prove it, then i vote for forgiving them and welcoming them into the league. but they have to show the effort first. and someone aught to fess up and say: you know, it seemed like a good idea, but now we see it wasn't a nice thing to do. and we are trying to fix it. that is basically all i need to be able to move on.

We'll know soon enough if they're making a real effort to make amends. I contacted a mod a few hours ago and got an immediate response. We'll have the real story before season 3 kicks off.

This will be my last post on this subject until the mod gets back with me. I think we've exhausted the entertainment factor here and the guys involved have admitted that the initial story fed to us wasn't 100% accurate. Hopefully Bort or DD will switch these guys with the gutted team, lock their players in and force them to play the season. Seems most fair to me and it would let them 'keep their team together'. If nothing happens, well... it'll be a rather salty season to say the least.

A bunch of words.

Just found out about this and, quite frankly, I'm pretty disgusted.

I find it laughable that early in the topic, some of their folks were droning on and on about how this is just a game and we're all here to just have fun.

Well guess what, when shit like this happens, the fun factor goes down for far more people than it goes up.

Everything has been said pretty much that needed to be said about rectifying this situation...so I'll refrain. Unfortunately, with the season starting in a couple of days, it looks highly unlikely BBB 15 will be rid of the cancer that is your team.

So, as my way of protesting what you did (and all other similar situations in GLB), I will be quoting the following from Bort for each and every post from a player from your team this season on our league forums to remind you, us, and everyone else (new players and visitors alike) just what most of the rest of us think of folks like you.

I've at various times thought about completely removing the trading option, or not allowing cash to be involved, but I don't want to have to do that just because of a few jackasses. I really want to be able to get this stuff taken care of so we don't have to worry so much about it and we can focus on improving the core aspects of the game.

Obviously chemistry isn't enough of a deterrent to keep certain jerks from doing it as we've seen recently. The effect of chemistry on performance could be increased, but I don't want to make it TOO important.

I think they only way to put a stop to collusion/gutting is to limit player movement severely or make it SO unattractive that nobody would want to do it. The kind of people who want to cheat don't care about getting banned; I've found that they often find it funny. They could care less about your enjoyment, and they just want to screw with you and waste our time dealing with what they've done.

Nike-Joe,

I appreciate the call for staying on topic and not getting into a back and forth.
I will also add one thing, for whatever degree my judgement carries any weight with anyone. ONE person from Albequerque has convinced me that, at least now, he's trying to do the right thing. I believe him when he says he's contacted admin himself about the situation, after talking to him.

I have seen nothing from anyone else on the team to suggest that it was a team effort or that anyone else there sees any problem with what's happened, but I can hardly speak for the whole team.

As of now, I'm willing to give Byron the benefit of the doubt in saying it was an error in judgement, and with intent to keep friends together, at least, but he also has come out and agreed that it was a crap thing to do too.

Either way, I sincerely hope admin deal with it, and they end up out of this division, and I'm looking forward to the flame war ending in general.

Borts post:

FYI: Something with an XP modifier for players playing below their level WILL be implemented soon, in all leagues below Pro level. There will not be a bonus for being below the median level; just a penalty for being way too high leveled for your competition. This is an effect applied to each individual player, not a team as a whole.

The exact exact formula I am going to use will not be released, but median league level will be shown on the league page so each Owner/GM/Agent knows where thier players stand. The median levels will be computed daily and the penalty will be based on your player's proximity to this avg. level number. There will be a reasonable minimum set for each region, so a whole bunch of new teams or players can't drag the level down too far.

For all the dissenters who just think things will work themselves out on their own: I urge you to take a look at the various dealings of this off-season and what owners will try to get away with when we have few limits. You cannot trust some gamers to work it out on their own. There will be a-holes who will exploit wherever they can.

Now take a look at the new capped "A" league. Any complaints of team stacking? They are working out nicely.

I can hear the complaints coming already, but if you're playing in a fair way (in the spirit of the game, and you know very well what it is) and are around the right level to compete with your league, you will see ZERO to little effect on your team and players. If you're one of the guys who's moved all your level 20's down to BBB level, well, karma's a bitch.

What if you came to the league as a level 9, and from boosting/leveling up you get to 22.. Are they going to be punished too?

It just keeps getting better and better..

Bort:

Like I said in the post, if you are playing "within the spirit of the game" you will see little to no effect from this update. Things such as length of time with the team and in the league are all part of the formula I have worked out.

The whole point of this update: Don't gut and stack your team, and you won't have any problems!

Ye of little faith, yeesh.

Seriously, though, all this concern really does prove to me that XP is the proper target. Things like cash and chemistry have little effect on the problem.

from what I could tell from the responses....no. Bort seems to be targeting players that are dropping down in competition but are higher leveled.

I also found this from Bort:

I never said it was based on average level. It will be based on median level, which is quite a bit different. I also never said what the "fudge factor" would be. I said that if you are playing "within the spirit of the game" you will see zero to little effect on your player. Take that at its word.

This is not an update to punish teams who recruit well. We are not adding this willy-nilly with no thought to players who stick with teams for the long haul. Like I said, the formula will not be given, but all of these things will be taken into account.
