Jumping or Speed?

Have third softcapped punting, will have strength to softcap two, agility/vision/confidence all softcapped and that'll leave me at least 6SP to play with after boosting start of next season.

Will one give me more value than the other? Training stamina so need a home for my SP and don't want to work the SA any more.

Surely that would be a waste, if I soft cap one first, and switch to the other to train when i'm happy with stamina i'd get more value from it.

It has to be jumping, guys with lower levels than my punter have dark green bars, only difference is my speed is higher than theirs and their jumping is higher than mine.

You've only Punted 3 No Returns. I suggest you work on Special Abilities or Punting more.

I'll have to respectfully disagree with you there MHS, i've seen no evidence to suggest that either punting or SAs greatly affect the ability to punt no returns, especially as most of my punts recently have been from very short range.

I accept that, since I was going with my friend's Punter, Mister Fresh, and he has a lot (and I mean a lot) of SA backed up with 90+ Punting and 50+ Strength (that's all I know for now). Also I have forum access to their team and he has dedicated a thread to his Punts and has recorded every No Return punt.

I was going to make a Punter but only if we (he and I) knew how to make a Punter good. Right now we are puzzled because we both concluded before that Vision and Calm Nerves would help stop the ball inside the 5 yard line. I think he only has around 30 or 40+ Vision but 11 in Calm Nerves. That was what we believe all Punters should aim for, No Returns, not Touchbacks.

He also trained Jumping to 30+ and I don't think it helped much.

So I didn't mean my post to be read as the truth or anything, just what I have experienced haha. Check back with us if you know how to punt No Returns

As far as stats for a punter, I have a few theories but in the end you have a lot of stats contributing towards the result, and it's also going to be very situational as well.

Random Ideas

Attributes

Strength-Affects length of max punt.

Speed-Affects speed of kicking action, possible link to speed + strength giving a more powerful kick

Agility-Improves consistancy of punting, softcap agility and you'll see a drop off in shanked kicks, all about a smoother action

Jumping-Affects height of punts slightly, presumably by more vertical force in the punting action, could help no returns slightly and should slightly reduce the return average against you

Stamina-Little effect but will help consistancy in the longer games where you punt more

Vision-Presumably helps with placement of the punts, so theoretically should help with no returns

Confidence-Would help with no returns (greater comfort trying for a coffin corner or punt right to the line) and definitely helps recover from any shanked punts. Also helps with key punts late in game.

Blocking-No noticeable effect yet

Tackling-Minor value if your last man against the PR

Throwing-You get SP naturally for it but never confirmed the value (has anyone tried it?). Obvious use would be wrapped up in the punting action, you catch the ball, throw it up/drop the ball into the air (not really throwing but it's from your hands to the air) and then punt it. If that's the case it could have an effect on consistancy and punt accuracy, and could possibly help the no returns slightly. All speculation though.

Catching-Punter doesn't fumble it seems so no practical value

Carrying-No value imaginable

Kicking-No value unless your splitting the work

Punting-Key stat, would effect distance, accuracy, consistancy

Specials

Calm Nerves-Consistancy improvement

Hang Time-Punt height modifier

Big Boot-Punt length modifier
