Welcome to GoalLineBlitz.
The first step as a new user is to create your first player using the “Create New Player” link at the bottom of your homepage. Enter in your player’s first name, last name and select his position. The currency of GLB is called “flex points”. Flex points are bought, however you start with 400 and are given some extra every season and on certain holidays. Each position costs a standard amount of points to initially create. Glamour players are 300 (quarterbacks, running backs, and wide Receivers). Normal players are 200 (defensive positions, fullbacks, and tight ends). Non-glamour players are 100 (offensive line positions, kickers, and punters). Keep in mind the demand rating for each positions (varying from Very Low to Very High). The higher the demand value, the more spots on currently existing teams there are – meaning you’ll have an easier time finding a human controlled team.
After player creation you’ll be taken to the Assign Skill Points screen. Here you can assign skill points in either your player attributes or special abilities. More information on your attributes and what they do can be found here: http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=125 . Players in GLB grow in skill after each new “level”. It takes 1000 experience points to reach your next level, and your player gains experience points when he plays in games and also each night as you train. After each new level you are given 5 skill points to spend on your character. After your attributes and abilities reach certain levels they will take more and more skill points to be raised, so keep this in mind when planning your character.
You’ll want to move on to the Equipment page next. Here you can buy 4 pieces of equipment for your player (Head, Body, Hands, Feet) using in-game cash. You can buy an optional 5th piece of equipment (Custom) with flex points. At first, each equipment piece will only allow you to add 1 point to an attribute. Every 8 levels however (8, 16, 24, etc.) you are allowed to add an extra point to an attribute per piece of regular equipment you have. This attribute bonus does not take into account how many “skill points” you need to increase an attribute.
The next screen you’ll want to visit is the Contract Offers page. You will have 3 offers from teams playing in the “D League”. These leagues are computer-run and are there to give your new player a place to play. Check the rosters of the teams that have sent you offers, you want to sign with a team that has a small amount of players at your position. This way you get the most playing time you can. You can choose a team to sign with now or you can check back tomorrow and you’ll have 3 brand new offers.
So now your player has assigned his first skill points, geared up, and is on a team ready to play. Teams play games every 48 hours, so you can see on your home page when your player has a game next. Feel free to repeat this process and create a new player, or visit the boards and get yourself acquainted. After approximately level 7 you’ll want to start looking for a human-owned team to sign you (After level 7 D League teams stop sending you offers to resign with them). The forum is the best place to find a new team, ask questions, and generally socialize with the GLB community.
