I am thinking about building a speedy WR, but I've heard that it's important to handcuff some attributes. Does anyone know what they are for a speedy WR and/or the ratio?

thanks

speed and agility for a speedster. I'd keep them at a ratio of 3:2 at most.

so you think I should aim for at least a 60/40 SPD/AGI?

What about vision?

Do you think I should add points in the possession SAs down the road, such as "route running" etc...? Or is that a bad idea for a speedy WR?

Route running is awesome for any WR in my opinion.

Erk! I meant 3:2 at least not at most!

I would aim for 60:48 as a minimum (just so both are capped). 70:50 seems to be working for my guy.

Re: SA's. I don't know. I'm still 10 levels away from working on them.

What are your guys' opinion on jumping and vision? What should I aim for with those?

I find myself agreeing with a lot of what you post, but what's your rationale behind waiting so long to work on SAs? I was planning on waiting till 16ish before i even put in one point, but by then ill have any relevant skill checks at 60+. I guess if i didn't care about performance at all, i could see waiting, but by then youre out of D leagues and at some point you gotta start caring if youre only getting 15 yards a game.

Well, the rationale is quite simple:

Possession SAs: If I don't have a decent catching, they are utterly worthless. If I have a decent catching, wouldn't more jumping and more vision be better? After all, diving catch and jump catch clearly need jumping to work well.

Speedster SAs: The head fake/juke/spin all need mega agility to pull off (especially against high vision/agi CBs), so I should make sure I have enough AGI to pull those tricks off before I spend any points in them.

Re: the lower level SA's such as route run, sticky hands, first step, etc...well if I'm working on my three base catching skills (catch/jmp/vis) will I really need that much sticky fingers? if I'm working on speed/agi will I really need first step/route run/quick cut?

I guess that's just the way I look at it. What do I know? My WR is only level 18 and playing as the #5 WR on a BBB team.

if you have all the time in the world, soft cap them. If not, at least 30.

ok, so don't worry about handcuffing them?

I'm pro-speedster SA early and often, first three SA skills don't need high agility to give you a benefit.

No i agree with everything you say here, but maybe we're quibbling on the definition of mega agility. With gear im going to have ~60 at level 16 or so. Adding in whatever route run does for you and it seems like thats enough to start exploring the speedster? I dont plan on putting a single point in possession past route run.

knudlen,

ya, at some point it just gets to where people have the same idea and the same plan and just execute it differently. Nothing wrong with that.
