CB who got burnt has vision of 49, Super Vision 3
SS who came over has vision of 55, Super Vision 3

Note that the CB doesn't stop moving until after the ball is thrown, so it's not a bump fake freezing him. Any suggestions or way to prevent this as we've gotten burnt several times this year, no matter how much we're defending against the deep ball.

I still think it's a pump fake.CB has stopped just before the ball was thrown.

are you playing a zone defense? maybe the WR had a head fake...what is the CBs agility?

That looks like your strongs fault. Pre-snap looks like a cover two, your CB looks like his passing him off to the strong but the strong tries to jump the route by the TE. That vertical seam pattern by the WR and the curl by the TE ate up your strong.

apparently pump fake is the 'free td' sa

The QB had all day to throw as well so any defender would have trouble covering in that situation.

I've seen that happen as well....the safety came up to cover the TE (when he should have been in cover 3), and the cb was following the WR over the deep middle (we only play man underneath). As soon as the ball was thrown (not just before), the cb stopped running and the WR was wide open.

+1

Considering most (not all) good QBs have 5+ pump fake. It could be a multiple of things. Plus the velocity of the replay doesn't help in working out who does what.

From what I can see I guess that the CB was faked but not enough to be completely frozen, which raised the question can pump fake slow down the CB rather than just freeze them? The WR, who was already faster than the CBs makes a great adjustment and burst for the ball. Another question, can first step engage after the start of the play? First Step can create separation. This could possible be first step in action? What is the first step of the covering CB?

CB's agility is 50+
In this instance we were in 100% man (or at least supposed to be).

Great find on the bort quote. Makes a lot of sense what has been happening this year. Suddenly a pump fake and a HB with 75+ STR are all you need for a championship season.

I'll lay this to rest...if QB's Pump Fake SA is greater than the CBs Super Vision, he will freeze him with the fake most of the time. Plain and simple.

Hmmm....that's pretty retarded though. There's no way a CB should get pump faked on a post route while in MAN coverage.

Maybe its similar to the bug that existed when covering kickoffs and punts, otherwise that doesnt make sense he should be chasing his WR.

I've had the same thing happen w/ my corner. I'm at 3 on SV and my vision is high (nearly 60).

uhm, and why is that? Even Champ Bailey bites on pump fakes from time to time on hitch n' go routes.
