If you're trying to build shut-down man coverage CB's, where do you look after getting those 3 skills capped? SA's? Which ones? Any other skills?

The SA Shutdown Coverage works wonders.

Who the hell said you had to stop at the soft cap

The first 4 levels of shutdown coverage give pretty good returns, but I'm not sure about after that (4 points/level). After that, Super Vision is amazing, you can never have too much. I like First Step and Sticky Hands too (but you'll need to invest in Sticky to raise Super Vision, so don't worry too much about it). Jumping and Catching are good secondary stats to dump spare points in, if you don't want to save them. Most importantly, don't go past the 1st soft cap (48) in Speed/Agility/Vision; the SAs are much nicer to have.

Ummmm, I'm not a fan of stopping at the first softcap... What happens when a team full of 60 speed CBs goes up against a WR with 80 speed? You get burnt like toast...

I agree. Turn to SA`s after you get speed and agility to the SECOND cap at least imo, as well as vision to the first cap. Personally, i wouldn`t bother investing in SA`s until your CB is past level 20...

Sure, go to the second cap if you want, but have fun getting faked out because you don't have enough vision or super vision to read the plays. Then you can put that speed to use in running along behind the 80+ speed WRs. Good luck catching up.

And no, there's no reason to wait until level 20 before investing in SAs or anything. Lvl 10 is fine, as long as you don't go overboard. Points in Super Vision will always help; going without it for 10 levels is just silly.

I've found Speed >70results in giving up passes underneath too often. 70 is ideal for Speed, because 80 Speed WR's may get a slight edge deep, but my Jumping results in PD after PD, and the odd INT.

Very high speeds only seem to affect the top speed you can reach, which only really factors into long cross-field plays - for example, after a WR jukes past the CB, makes the catch and carries it 50 yards for the TD. I can see a difference in how fast my CB and FS run in those situations, even though there's only a 5 point difference in their speeds (both above 65). And yes, I don't have 80 speed, and have never caught a WR running down field with the ball, but I doubt mr 80 speed CB would have much more luck (if you do, please post some catch-up plays, I'd like to see them). Thus, my philosophy is to not let the WR past in the first place, hence more points in shutdown-style SAs.

Tell me, 80+ speed CBs, how many times has your WR broken past you for a TD this season? I just checked, and none have gotten past me.

And yeah, 70ish speed should still be very acheivable with a moderately early soft-capped speed and focused equipment, so it's a good amount in my book.
