Here are the major skills for a QB...

Major: Strength, Throwing, Vision, Confidence, Stamina

How would you rank them?

I say...

1. Vision
2. Throwing
3. Strength
4. Confidence
5. Stamina

1) Throwing
2) Vision
3) Strength
4) Confidence
5) Could be speed, agility, or some SAs. Stamina really goes without saying as everyone needs it and isn't something that a QB essentially needs but something that everyone needs.

i think speed is entirely neglected. balance is important here, your QB needs to MOVE, he isn't glued to a spot. i would bet that speed (combined with agility) plays an important part of his release and his ability to avoid sacks/pressure.

up until i had one bad game against a totally superior team, i had a decent QB rating. i made sure to work speed and agility up with some other stats as he leveled. i think that had a lot to do with his success based on seeing other QB's fail with the high vision/high throwing strategy.

Define Fail, please.

Again, if you are evaluating QBs based on stats, you need the following information before you can say "build mistake" - team tactics, level/quality of talent around him, level/quality of opposition. Without knowing this, using stats to say a QB fails is just not correct.

I can say that two of the very best QBs (and most productive also) that I know of have only recently gotten either Speed or Agility above 20. Both spent most of their careers with these two Attributes below 17. The rate of return on training has led them to train the Attributes this year, but until now, they had no Speed or Agility to speak of and were still among the top pocket passers in GLB.

I'm going to have to agree. While it is good to be agile in the pocket, it is nowhere near as important for a QB as the other stats. You get good o-linemen to block for you and then you don't have to worry about speed and agility. ONLY if your o-line really really sucks should you be dedicating lots of training towards speed and agility.

Heh, sure, but after a certain point there's nothing else to train.

There's no proof that speed/agility has anything to do with release, as far as I've seen. I've seen the speculation and while it might make some sense. There is no actual proof, and I'd like you to show me proof of it such as timing when the dot starts its throwing motion until it has released the ball, because I sure as hell don't want a Byron Leftwich dot. At the same time, there's no reason to think that the throwing stat doesn't also determine motion. I don't believe it's known if throwing motion is even a variable. For all I know, I could be completely wrong, I'm just asking for evidence, other than you having a good or bad game.

i think that agility does help if you are throwing while moving. seems implied in the 'On the Run' SA anyway
