I have a DT on one of my teams that is looking for some advice.
He has 100 strength (with equipment) and 61 agility (no equipment)

he wants to get more hurries/sacks and wants to know which of those 2 SAs will be more helpful.

What are your guys thoughts and why?

Shed block is an agility based ability (and doesn't appear to work, in my case.)

Shed block. Its the key to DT sacks. A lot of it has to do with the line playing around you as well though.

i'd go with strong base now because its based on strength, but jack up both in the long term. DTs really lucked out getting both on the same SA tree. you can never have enough weapons for breaking down QB doors.

that said, to have that str/agi at your level indicates speed and jumping are probably low. while your player might be good at breaking into the backfield, he's too slow and/or lacks tackling range to finish the job. just a guess. didn't look at stats/replays/etc.

Strong Base, no question about it.

Any other opinions on this? I'm not sure which SA to focus on or whether to just go equally in each.

Nobody has a clue. It's all opinion.

It's just hard to believe that no one knows, I mean, DEs know that TV is their way to really get sacks. I just assume there's gotta be some knowledge out there.

well yea, DEs are sack machines, i've seen one with 41 already this season, so its easy to see what builds/strategy work best. as for DTs a good pass rush DT is gonna get ~10 sacks and varies greatly with how good the o-line you are going against is. but what i have heard is shed block works with agility and strong base with strength, so i'd go in the area you feel most comfortable

I don't have a guy with 100 str to give information based on experience, but seeing how you've gone that far with str, how could you not try to increase strong base?

You could always add some to shed as well, but I'd have to consider strong base with 100 str...

but since SAs aren't affected by equipment, 61 natural agility is a lot as well.

100 strength and 60 agility? damn. my DT is not nearly that strong and he's got 12 sacks on the season already, and is a tackling machine... I should mention he's got nothing in strong base but 4 into shed block.

Impressive stats. My DT managed to do the same in Season 3. So I guess we know that both a DT AND a NT can get high stats. Yes my DT played NT in Season 3, recording 71 Tackles and 15 Sacks and he is built as a Run Stuffer. So we can ALSO conclude that both a Run Stuffer and a Pass Rusher can obtain the same stats. LOL.

Your say?

edit: nvm you're playing NT too!

no actually, I started off my career at NT, but for about the last 18 games or so I've been playing at DT. Since I've been doing all right there they've just kept me on. I do have those 5 DLine Gen points that are being wasted right now but oh well...

and yeah, my guy is also built like a run stuffer, but is rushing the QB well too. so yes, I think we can conclude that a run stuffer can also be an effective pass rusher.
