I'm currently sitting on a HB that was originally built as elusive (I know, waiting on the nerfs to come for him to be useful), and in the meantime I want to make him more competent at breaking tackles. I wanted to see everyone's thoughts on Strength vs Carrying, and which is actually more effective at breaking tackles.

I'm currently thinking the answer would be strength, but I'm wondering if 48+ carrying would also help an eventual elusive back break through some defenders.

I dont think its a contest really. Strength is the obvious victor when it comes to solely breaking tackles imo.

I don't know for sure, but it seems from watching several different HBs that carrying makes runnners slick and able to slide away from tackles in tight areas so I think that it's possible that carrying might be better for elusives. Also, the faster you run, the more important carrying is in preventing fumbles so that is a nice bonus.

There won't be a nerf. Well not IMO, just the defensive players will raise their str and tackle. I think Bort will fix the vision on elusive backs which makes them dance too much.

Agility FTW

Strength > Carrying if u want to break tackles.

So I see it's really not decided which would be better. I ran a good amount of equipment in agility for the past few games and it seemed to me that its effects were somewhat overrated. My HB ran in the same manner, and ended up getting tackled on a possible game winning breakaway reception by a speedy FS.

Back on the carrying topic - how high have others here taken carrying and have you noticed any difference in broken tackles?

Another route I've considered taking is SA's, including head fake and juke. If I go that route I'd expect to have carrying at 40 max.

I see this w/ low agility backs as well.

Bort has said that strength is still most important for breaking tackles.

Kind of off topic, but is the main draw in high agility just to activate elusive SA's? I have soft capped spd/agi and recently tried changing my equipment over to agility, but the results were less than impressive. I've recently gone back to speed gear.

For power backs the main draw is to get your ass moving fast after breaking a tackle so you can run down field.
