I figured last week’s rankings would cause some head scratching, and I was right, but hey its early. And lets not forget, the system has pegged teams as overrated before (Visalia in the 2nd season). Keep winning and your teams position will improve; besides in the end these rankings are just a discussion point. It’s who makes and wins in the playoffs that matters.

Anyway, the rankings are based on the same formula as last season. There are 4 main components, which are then adjusted by my random modifiers.

Anyway the components are as follows:

OPOA – Offensive Points Over Average, how many points have you scored against your competition vs. the average they allow.

DPUA – Defensive Points Under Average, how does you points allowed each game compare to the average scored by your opponent.

SOS – Strength of Schedule, are you playing tough competition, or have you build your record on the gutted ruins littering the bottom of the rankings.

WB – Did you beat a top team, then you get bonus points, did you beat one of the ND’s of BBB#7, then you get nothing.

There was some movement that I would consider the rankings starting to sort themselves out, but we still have a long way to go. As I am traveling this weekend, I doubt that there will be week 8 rankings, so hopefully 2 more games by the next rankings will get us closer to where we should be.

The Top of the Heap

#1 – Louisville Baby Kittens (6-1, rank 35.20) (Last Week: 2)

The Kittens rebounded from their loss to APP with a dominating performance vs. River City. An outstanding OPOA and DPUA gain the Kittens the top spot this week as they gear up to face the Juggernauts.

#2 – Red Bank Thundercats (6-1, rank 33.77) (Last Week: 3)

Red Bank also moves up in the rankings this week. Excellent OPOA, DPUA and WB numbers lead the way for this team. The game of the week is up next for this squad as they head to Atlanta to face the Purple Penguins.

#3 – Texas Tarheels (5-2, rank 32.13) (Last Week: 1)

The Tarheels struggled in their week 7 match up with Oakland, and dropped a couple spots in the rankings. They do still have the top DPUA in the league, which has maintained their high ranking. The 5-2 Mels are up next in a game that bears watching.

#4 – Atlanta Purple Penguins (7-0, rank 31.34) (Last Week: 4)

Shutting out the Sin City squad solidified this teams ranking, a win in this weeks game of the week should shoot them up a couple spots at least. As it would add valuable WB points.

#5 – Anchorage Vikings (6-1, rank 29.05) (Last Week: 5)

The Vikings may be ranked #5, but don’t sleep on this team. The Rankings show one of the most all around solid teams. Two games against teams near the bottom of the rankings are up next, which may hurt in the rankings, but this team is for real.

2nd tier

#6 – Oakland Nation (7-0, rank 27.38) (Last Week: 7)
Only their 2nd quality win isn’t quite enough to get them into the top 5.

#7 – Lincoln Freedom Warriors (5-2, rank 23.93) (Last Week: 8)
The easy part of the schedule is next, making it hard to move up anytime soon.

#8 – Saginaw Spirit (3-4, rank 21.16) (Last Week: 6)
The next two games should give us a good idea of where these guys really stand.

#9 – LA Chupacabras (6-1, rank 20.10) (Last Week: 13)
Big ranking correction as these guys move up 4 spots.

#10 – Appalachian Lycans (7-0, rank 18.64) (Last Week: 9)
Beating up on Richmond doesn’t impress the spreadsheet.

To early to worry about the rankings

#11 – Austin Breakers (6-1, rank 16.82) (Last Week: 14)
#12 – Chicago Whodat’s (6-1, rank 16.50) (Last Week: 10)
#13 – Syracuse Samurai (3-4, rank 15.91) (Last Week: 12)
#14 – Houston Armageddon (5-2, rank 15.79) (Last Week: 11)
#15 – DLF Gods (2-5, rank 10.65) (Last Week: 15)

Still not good

#16 – Malibu Mels (5-2, rank 9.73) (Last Week: 17)
#17 – Visalia Paraplegics (2-5, rank 5.39) (Last Week: 23)
#18 – Texas Two Step (5-2, rank 5.29) (Last Week: 20)
#19 – Big Whiskey Assassins (1-6, rank 4.78) (Last Week: 16)
#20 – The River City Ransom (4-3, rank 4.66) (Last Week: 19)

Closer

#21 – Jax Beach Juggernauts (4-3, rank 3.91) (Last Week: 21)
#22 – Cleveland Buckeyes (0-7, rank 1.76) (Last Week: 22)
#23 – Big Money Dynasty (0-7, rank 1.63) (Last Week: 18)
#24 - Sin City Showboats (4-3, rank –0.23) (Last Week: 25)
#25 - Santa Cruz Slashers (0-7, rank -0.75) (Last Week: 24)

Is it the Rankings or Fresno?

#26 - Phoenix Scorpions (0-7, rank –3.60) (Last Week: 26)
#27 – Fresno Anarchs (5-2, rank –6.76) (Last Week: 29)
#28 – Roswell Invaders (1-6, rank –7.74) (Last Week: 27)
#29 – Baltimore Hustle (1-6, rank –9.27) (Last Week: 28)
#30 – Richmond Empire (0-7, rank –10.67) (Last Week: 30)

Well I think we have these two right
#31 – The State of Texas Domination (0-7, rank –34.16) (Last Week: 32)
#32 – Amish Farmers (0-7, rank –36.35) (Last Week: 31)

I wish I could help you Raves, but since we're conference rivals, I just can't do that this year...Maybe when we move up to A next year...

got to love it when the assassins get win 1 in franchise history and we manage to drop 3 spots

we should've stayed winless.....we'd be ranked #1 by years end
