Which of the three types of HB do you think is the best style? I created a new HB at the beginning of the season and can't decide which type of back i want to build him into. I still have all 30 SP from leveling and such, but im new to building HBs.

I have a Speed Back and a Power back and I'm currently developing a Balanced Back, the general word on the street is you're better focusing on speed or power though not both. Better to be amazing at one thing rather than Mediocre at a few things if you know what I mean.

If you don't have a great line a Speed Back might struggle but he has the potential to breakway for big gains also, on the flip side of that a Power Back doesn't need a solid line to do well because he's going to be able to break a lot more tackles than the Speed Back but don't expect him to get 70 or 80 yard scampers too often.

Power back was better last year, power back is better this year, power back will be nerfed and something else will be better net year.

What about an Elusive back?

im probably going to softcap speed and agility first and see what results i get from my line and try to build around that

More specifically: I disagree that power backs shouldn't be expected to rip off long gains.

Well my guy has done a few times this year, he doesn't breakaway anywhere near as much as my Speed guy though. Maybe I could've chosen my words better.

I like power the best but i'm biased.

Power is generally better now because the consensus on D is to build around Speed. Most of the LB's, CB's and Safeties have high Speed and Agility and low Strength - That's why Power backs can bowl right over them. Eventually, these players will up their strength and Power backs won't have such an easy time ripping through them. I have to agree with Drunzer and say pick either Power and Speed and go all out. If you have a power back with 70+ str, 45 ish agi and 45 ish speed, he's going to do fine. If you have a speed back with 75+ Speed and 55+ Agi he's also going to do great.

My power back has had two long TD runs after breaking two tackles and taking it to the outside.

I agree with OMGWTF, he helped me with my powerback build nad my power HB is a beast this season. I don't think they will nerf the powerbacks at all since everyone has neglected to focus on tackling and strength on defense for 3 complete season.

Wrap up tackles were way over powered and Bort let everyone know that they need to get their strength and tackling up. My LB and CB rarely miss tackles against powerbacks in our league.

It will even out and over all rounded players will have better success in the long run. Still focusing you HB into speed, agility, or power will have it's own advantages. That is why their is running styles to help improve upon your player.

I love power HB's since you control the clock and wear out the defense in the first half. Late 3rd and into the 4th they are gassed and the power HB will own them if you have good to great stamina.

Balanced is worthless.

Power and Elusive are equal. A good HB (power or elusive) has a good offensive line. Without a good line, you're screwed.

Personally I think there's a big difference but GLB is still so young there's not many "true" speed backs out there. Most backs people call speedy, I would either consider half developed or elusive.
