Ok, here's the numbers for my new Lvl 1 HB after 2 days:

Player Attributes
Physical Attributes Football Skills
Strength: 11 Blocking: 10
Speed: 13.05 Tackling: 9
Agility: 35 Throwing: 10
Jumping: 10 Catching: 10
Stamina: 10 Carrying: 12
Vision: 11 Kicking: 8
Confidence: 11 Punting: 9

No SAs yet.

He's going to be an elusive HB, and here's my plan:

1. Get agility to the second soft-cap (60) immediatly. This should take pretty much all of the levels I will get throughout the first season.

2. Get speed to the first soft-cap (48), possibly the second soft cap?

3. Start putting points into secondary attributes, such as carrying, vision, catching, strength and confidence

Training: train up stamina to around 25ish. Split training between vision, catching, strength and confidence until they hit the 30s.

SAs: Will only start adding SAs after I've hit second soft-caps in agility, and first, maybe second soft-cap in speed.

NOTE: I know fully well that he will probably be a piece of crap his first 2-3 seasons because I am not working things like carrying and vision immediatly, but this is a long term plan, to make the HB work when he hits the big leagues in season 3 or 4 of his career.

What do you guys think? Any glaring holes in my plan? Any other things I should take into consideration?

Not sure how productive you want this guy to be during the plan, but you may want to add a few SAs in there as you go along; they really do help.

I don't really care how well he does during the first two seasons while this is going on, but if he plays well it is a bonus I guess. I know a lot of people have had a lot of success by pumping SAs such as Head Fake and Quick Cut while in the D leagues, but once they get outside of them, they seem to run out of steam, as it were, and you can't stay in the D leagues forever

Right, but for an agility/speed guy, first step will be very helpful.

Not the gimmick head fake junk.

Just imo, either way, the end result should be a great HB.

i pumped the shit out of headfake and my HB is kicking ass and taking names
y not get SAs early not super high but get some..

later its going to be like 3 points for 1 to agility or get a SA..

also y not work everything..
get some agility train speed
then once speed only gets .3 in training train Vision

and imo every build should get to 20 stamina at the start.. y not you will get more playing time in the D leagues and its like your going to have to get stamina anyway

Radardog: Thanks, I'm hoping he's gonna be great First Step over Head Fake eh? Do you think something like Juke or Spin (which would be activated by my eventual high agility) be more worthwile than something like Head Fake?

cripler: The reason I'm going all out straight away on some skills (agility, speed) is that the sooner you get them to soft-caps, the bigger bonus they get from the bonuses they get to the skills when they level up. Getting SAs early on is really a waste of time as you need high physical stats to make them work. I'm guessing your HB with massive Head Fake is your lvl 24 and he probably has high agility, thus making it work well. I'm gonna be switching around training on the secondary skills anyway, so they will move up steadily. As for the stamina, I played on hard, got the most carries and yards (14, and 71.5) and still came out with over 70 energy, so that 10 stamina is alright for now!

Spike, my suggestion would be as you're doing your primary attributes, try to get something in first step once every 10-15 points (very low commitment). When you're filling out your secondary attributes, start putting points in Juke/Spin once every 5 points or so.

Points in first step are required to get Juke/Spin to a high level anyway.

sure you can do it like that
since headfake owns lower lvl i got it to lvl up then got the atttributes

and now my HB doesnt even use headfake

btw. i didnt mean to get SAs right away but before u get the 2 maxed

radardog: Sounds like a good plan to me. I'll have to stick some points into Quick Cut and Head Fake anyway, and I am going to be putting some points into Quick Cut once I finish the primary attributes anyway, so I might as well start early.

Has your HB had a lot of success with First Step then?

cripler: I'm not really that interested at owning at low levels in the D leagues. D league stats mean nothing because a lot of players aren't building properly from the start, and no-one really takes much notice of D-League stats anyway when they are recruiting guys.

I guess I'm doing the same thing as you are.

My first season, I used all my SP to soft cap both speed and agility. This season I'm using all my SP to get through the second cap in both those attributes. By the end of this season, I figure to have a speed/agility ratio of around 71/72 as a level 21. I'm not putting any points anywhere except speed and agility.

You have a good plan Spike. Definitely get Agility to the 2nd soft cap and Speed to the first, then you can figure out your next focus.

Although I'd recommend one or two SAs, and they shouldn't be First Step or Head Fake.

TesT: Sounds like we are doing almost the exact same thing then! How is he getting on so far this season? Also, which stat are you putting your equipment on? I have my first lot set as agility, and I will probably put everything else on agility as well.

j10er: I'm not going to touch the SAs for atleast the first season, and possibly not even the season after. I am definitly not going to put any more than I have to in Head Fake, but I was thinking putting a few in First Step. Why would it not be that good of an idea? And also, I'm going to guess Quick Cut and Juke as the 'one or two SAs'?

He's doing great thus far. I have my custom on speed and all my normal equipment on agility.

Cool, I might put some on speed, but I was going to put all my equipment on agility, just to see if that would make a difference. What do you think?

I've seen some RBs that have really high agility compared to their speed and they seem to have a lunging sort of motion. It's like the want to go fast, but since their speed is so low they just have that quick burst and nothing else.

I'm keeping my speed just a few points above agility.

Currently with equipment they're 62/57
