With ROLBs coming out on the nickel package (playing maybe 30 plays a game unless you're on a team with a bad defense) ... and the 30 plays they see being on the left side of the field where nothing really happens ... what is the incentive? Who wants to play this position where you do ... nothing?

If Bort is intent on satisying teams who want their run stopping LOLB on the field during NICKEL sets ... he should give us an option. There is a huge discrepancy in player builds between these positions.

I read somewhere from someone else that this is a bug; that the LOLB is supposed to be the one coming out, and that Bort was looking in to it and intends to fix it.

This wasn't from Bort, this is what someone else said. Not sure if it's true or not.

I hope not...I think it will change, but I think the Nickle looks better for most teams with LOLB and MLB.

In our first game, I lined up at ROLB and had a pretty good game. I also ended up with more plays then the LOLB too, even though I know the LOLB played the nickel and I came out. I did not play SP Teams either so I'm not really sure how it happened. Maybe it has something to do with the new settings or it is dependent on what type of offense your opponent runs.

something must be wrong. In our last game the starting ROLB was in on 12 plays and I was in on 0 plays. Most games we both are in the 20+ plays range. If the starter is only going to get that many plays, no reason for a team to have more then 1 ROLB on their depth chart.

One teams QBs had 52 total plays while the other teams only QB had 97. I didn't check the play by plays to see why their was such a large difference but I would not expect that to be the norm.

Yes my LB got 6 Tackles. Granted it was in 47 plays, but he still lead the LB crew in Tackles today.

Now this week I had 0 stats while starting on the left side. Anyone have any thoughts as to why I would go from 13 tackles one week to 0 the next just from a side swap? After that last game I'm wondering if there is any point to being a LOLB now. LOL All I ever did was cover the TE.

Our starting ROLB had one of his best games ever in the first game of the year. Like 6 or 7 tackles, a sack, some hurries, and a couple PDs.

If anything this just balances out what LBs are supposed to do more. The ROLB is built to blitz, so now you don't have to worry about them blitzing when they're the only LB on the field playing coverage; and LOLBs are built to play against TEs in coverage, so now they're the ones in on passing downs.

Makes MUCH more sense this way.

Well, firstly, you are saying the ROLB is built to blitz ... is he going to blitz on running plays? He's going to be sitting out on the nickel, an obvious and common passing situation ...

But additionally, you are using your first game as a benchmark of ROLB performance? Do you think that's accurate and unbiased considering:

1) You're in a pro league playing a team with CPU players; you won 63-0.
2) The ROLB actually had 3 tackles a sack and 2 hurries. Is that seriously one of his best games ever? Vs a team with CPU players? 3 tackles??!
3) You play the LOLB on that team.

So your ROLB had one of his best performances with completely unimpressive stats against a mediocre team.

I see.
