My team ends up having alot of passes deflected. What factors (both QB and receivers) would cause that?

Throwing, Tight Spiral, WR's Catching and Jumping
Background causes would also be Stamina and Confidence

Does anyone think setting a primary target when setting up pass plays in the advanced tactics would cause the QB to force the ball much like weve seen when a favorite target is selected by the QB?

Strength. It gets overlooked a TON. You can have great vision, and see the open guy, and have great throwing and throw it exactly where it needs to go. But if you have no strength and the ball takes 6 minutes to get there, even a half decent safety is gonna run over and deflect or even pick it. I'd look into strength.

I don't think so, in my opinion setting a primary only dictate who the praimary receiver of the play will be. (btw you can't really set a primary target, just a primary position to throw at)
And to the OP, there are a lot of things you have to take into account about deflected pass :
QB attributes (have to throw the ball at the right moment, right speed, on the right receiver)
WR attributes (got to make separation, being able to catch the wall)
WR vs CB matchup (or TE vs whoever is covering him)
