I'm a little lost on what I should train and put skill points in to make my WR a speedster.

Also, do you think he would be better in the slot?

First off - no more SAs .

Then well maybe get speed to soft cap and considering the new acceleration changes I would also soft cap agility .

After that idk , maybe get your speed even higher or start getting some catching maybe .

if your going speedster I would say you need more STR and Carry, since you are going get tackles and need to tru..
Just imo

You need to start focusing on Speed and Agility....I would dump points into speed and train agility till your like 60 speed and 40 agility. You also want to occasionaly want to put points into stamina and catching. Vision isnt your best friend yet..but you will eventually need it.

So
Speed (this is your bread and butter)
Agility (will allow higher acceleration with your first step combo + more separation from Cb's)
Stamina (till 30ish by lvl 16)
Catching (30 by lvl 13)
