If the team I'm on plays 3-4 will I need to keep spending points in speed ? if theres 2 middle linebackers then I don't need to cover the whole width, just half, and so would I need more stength, agility and vision to stop the run.

i know it hasn't been used in a game situation yet so noone apart from Bort knows for sure, but has anyone else got any thought on it ?

Don't see it being much different than it is now. Your inside guys (MLB) will need more strength to be able to get off blocks for inside runs and blitzing. Your outside guys will need to be the quickest ones to be able to cover and move in open space. So basically inside needs strength/agility/vision/speed and outside needs vision/speed/agility/strength. Just my opinion, again your right, we won't know until we see next season.

In my opinion, the 3-4 I believe will really bring about new types of LBs. To play the ILB position you need to be quick, not fast, and smart. So you will be seeing more builds with AGI, STR and VIS heavy ILBs. The middle guys are there to plug up the run basically so they need that STR and AGI to fight off blocks. They will need to react very quickly to plays as well, so they need more AGI. And the VIS will just help you diagnose the play quicker and get to the action faster. SPD isn't going to be that much of a factor in the 3-4 as it has been in the past.

If you think about it, two very successful teams in the NFL (AFC). The Patriots and Steelers. Look at their MLBs, are they speed demons? Hell no, they are quick strong guys who are very good at reading plays and filling gaps. I think the 3-4 in GLB will bring about a different breed of LBs and I can't wait to see it.

I also thought of that too...LOL So I just created a LB and am planning to build him with strenght, vision, and agility being the most important attributes.

I want him to have strength and vision to be in the 70s and agility in the 60s, while only having speed in the 40s before I even spend any points on the SA tree with defense general and shed blocks being the two most important.

I just started a lb in the D-leagues to fill a olb in the 3-4. Since the Olb's are the pass rushers in the 3-4, i think speed/agil/vision will be the keys followed by strength to shrewd blocks.

Oh definitely. The NT is the key to running the 3-4 Defense. If your NT gets pushed back at all or can't consistently hold two blockers, you are just screwed.

Jumping: 7 Catching: 8
Stamina: 29.6 Carrying: 10

Confidence: 24.52 Punting: 9

Yea, that's definitely a really solid NT build. I'd up that VIS so you know which way to shed off double teams in pursuit to the ball carrier. Also, up your CONF a bit too. That would probably give you more confidence in fighting off double teams.

I'd have to say that's absolutely perfect then. The more STR you have in the 3-4 as a NT the better. Look at the NFLs premier NTs: Hampton, Wilfork, Williams. All very big, strong guys who know how to fight off blockers.
