Sadly I went with a Wii instead of an XBox 360 so can't.... I think I made a mistake there, but the Wii is a more family friendly system I figured.... Maybe get a 360 when I strike it big on a scratch off or something.

I'm about to go Wii as well ... are you advising against it Payton?

I have both the Wii and the 360. Not sure you could go wrong with either one, but with how great XBLA is I would get a 360. On the flip side I have been playing more Wii recently with Mario Kart, SSB, etc...not sure that helped, but in the end just think about the consoles purpose and the games available for each system you're considering.

My opinion shouldn't count for much here. We have both in our household, belonging to different people. The others love the Wii - but my knees won't take the movements required for a lot of the games, so I stick with the 360, which works out fine.

Not at all, it just depends on what you want out of a console..... My favorite console game is NCAA Football by EA Sports. While the XBOX and PS3 versions are very hard core and cool, the Wii went childish, arcade-like and campy which I don't really like... Other than that it's better for the family.

Madden on the Wii is made of God and Win. All of the yanking the controller around that you do with the PS actually does soemthing with the wii and the power hit jab makes everyone in the room go OOOOOO. We have a lot of fun with that around here. There's lots of flailing around doing jukes and straightarms and spins and if you hit sprint at the right point you can actually jump over a diving tackler.
They also have two modes, so there is one that anyone in the family can do and a more hardcore version.
I haven't played NCAA on Wii, though.

Bad knees GwennA? Sounds like The Hustlers need to hire a team trainer!

I've seen games on both 360 and PS3, and they look awesome. But had held off picking one up due to the excessive number of complaints I'd seen for both. As time has progressed, it seems the Wii is getting more and more interest, for the exact reasons Bartholomew described. One friend swears by the boxing game to keep himself in shape. Says it's done wonders for him. Plus, the wife is suddenly interested in the Wii Fit add-on, and my daughter (6) wants to get anything she can use a steering wheel to play.

Personally, Madden is my #1 preference. If it plays well on there, I'm good to go.

Madden is fun on the Wii.

I really love the olympics game for it but that one is hit or miss. Some of my friends love it, others hate it.

Overall for me, I find the Wii is great. I dont play video games much anymore but I can pick up and play most Wii games pretty easily. Plus, when I have friends or family over the Wii is a great thing to do with some of the multiplayer games.

The first thing we did christmas morning was plug in the wii and have a boxing tournament. We flailed until we all fell over panting and laughing. Its a great thing for a group of people or alone to stay in shape.

In case any of you have not seen/heard of it, this blog site is hilarious:

http://www.wiihaveaproblem.com/

It originally started as a site to gain momentum for a class action lawsuit, but people soon realized Nintendo wouldn't be held accountable for (in most cases) abject stupidity. Some are staged, some are real, but it will make you laugh!

Multiple knee injuries from my jock days and working as a bouncer for years. Only up side is that I get to spend all this time on my laptop now - so I have time to help manage here.

I heard a rumor that if you take the Wii online you can play any Nintendo game ever created. Can anyone confirm/clarify that? And is it worth it, or does it just end up being a novelty you ignore after a few weeks?

There are a ton of old nintendo and sega games you can download from Nintendo but they do cost about 5 bucks each. There are probably free copies online though.
