Is anyone else running straight into the NT instead of getting out to block a LB on runs? Has anyone figured out why? Sim glitch? Not enough Vision? Anyone have any ideas at all?

Assuming the NT didn't need blocking (i.e. wasn't beating his OL blockers) then vision is what determines where you try to block.

I'd think 30ish vision should be enough not to run straight ahead.

Level 22 FB here with 37 Vision. I do the same thing on inside runs, especially to the right. The C and/or RG will already be blocking the NT and my FB will double/triple team the NT.
I don't see why this would be by design.

Actually, I believe that was not a broken blocking assignment - the problem with that run was not that you blocked the NT, it was that the TE failed to block the LB he was clearly assigned to. The RT was in the area, but seemed to be worried about blocking the LE. The C didn't stay to double the NT, and no other defenders were in the area. Every defender in the area had a blocker assigned, so you doubled the NT. Your FB couldn't know the TE was going to fail to execute his assignment, he only knew that given a choice between double teaming the NT, LE and LB - the NT is generally the guy you want to double.

One would think that instead of double teaming a guy who is already blocked, the FB would lead the HB through the hole and seek out a guy on the 2nd level.

I think you're making too much of this - it's the LG who didn't block anyone on this play, forcing the C to take the DT and apparently prompting your FB to help with the NT - and you don't know that the NT wasn't winning that battle until your FB arrived. Had he won, you would have been held to no gain instead of 3.5 yards.

That's what I'm worried about, because I seem to do this on running plays which kills the FB since one of his primary roles as a lead blocker. I could see double teaming the NT if he was breaking the line on a passing play, and I could see hitting the NT if the HB was going straight up the middle, but so many times its an off tackle run the NT is no where near the play and I'm running dead straight into him.

It's just a really stupid play

See how the LG pulls? Then the C has to pick up the DT, and the FB chooses to double team the NT.

I think you're running to block the MLB but stuck in to NT and RG then ur TE try to block MLB in stead but not in time.
