Ok, guys since there are a lot of these threads, I felt that we should all keep our opinions and builds in this one thread, so people's CB Position Talk Thread doesn't get bumped down at the end of the page. So lets keep it here.

I have a lvl 24 CB, who I am finally starting to see him use that break away speed and use that quickness to juke, and also use that vision to break it outside, rather than running straight into 8 guys. But the problem is, I am still averaging about 30 yards a return. What do I need to do to really start breaking long ones, getting my average up, and hopefully scoring some TDs.

My plan is to have my CB be extremely fast and just blow STs away, but it would be even sicker if he had that kind of speed, and could break tackles. So some advice needed. I am going to post his important skills for returning kicks:

Speed- 63.31
Agility- 51.41
vision- 40.41
strength- 17.03(training)
confidence- 20.97
carrying- 15.63

Speedster Abilities:

First Step- 1
Return Specialist- 2
Change Direction- 2
Blitz- 1
Closing Speed- 0

Super Vision- 1

any suggestions?

First step helps you hit your max speed earlier. Change direction helps you cut without loosing speed. RS bonuses speed, agility and break tackle. Your base build looks very solid.

Ok, once I hit the soft cap in vision, I am adding a lot of SAs from there. I am probably going to do 4 special abilities every level I go up, and maybe 1 into strength or carrying.

So, I am going to boost at the begininning of next season 3 times:

-put 8 SP in to vision
-put 2 SP into strength
-put 4 SP into Speedster abilities
-put 1 SP into carrying

what do you guys think? Does anyone have any players that have returned quite a few for TDs? I really want to see some of their returns and some of their builds and find out when players start making Gamebreaking runs.

thanks

i wouldnt bother putting any SP into carrying until you train it up to 20 or so, better off using it for super vision

I'm trying to build a returner myself, although its at earlier stages, currently level 15 after 1 season. I boosted for my playoff game and put all 15 into vision thinking that it would help him not run in a straight line as much since Speed and Agility are both at the soft cap, but it didnt do anything. I'm starting to think special abilities are mucho important for returners

well, my CB just got his vision to 40, and he takes it outside a lot. He doesn't go straight into the wall anymore, but his problem is, that he doesn't break many tackles or burn many people.

I'd like to ask for help here. I just started a CB for KR/PR.

Strength: 12 --- Blocking: 8
Speed: 57 ------ Tackling: 12
Agility: 22 ---- Throwing: 8
Jumping: 16 ---- Catching: 12
Stamina: 22 ---- Carrying: 12
Vision: 20 ----- Kicking: 8
Confidence: 12 - Punting: 8

SAs:
Shutdown: 1-1-2-0-0
Speedster: 2-3-4-1-1

I am training Carrying up presently and plan to spend my boost points this season on getting Speed to softcap (48) and getting my Agi up. I am not sure if I should get Strength up to 17-20 or train slowly in Vision. Keep in mind I am lower in level and have some time to go, I'm still developing the player.

Is Strength actually important in the return game and if so, how much?
After getting Speed and Agi to softcap, should Vis be next?

As a level 8, that is pretty beast. Now, all I would work on for a while is agility and vision. It will help you in both returning and in CB shutdown abilities. Well, since your vision is low right now at 20 and agility is at 22, get more for your money by training both of those and adding skill points into them. Once they hit about 29-30 or so, start training on carrying, strength, jumping, catching, etc... and add the skill points to agility and vision at the same time. Where that will get you more for you money and help you reach your goal for vision and agility a little quicker, while helping out the other needed positions at the same time.

I don't know. I heard next year carrying is going to be more important but I don't know. We should ask the experts...
