Not to be negative, but why?
There is no coaches or AP poll in the pros, Sully does a damn fine job with his rankings - and he's even chimed in on looking at adding a modifier for streaks. No offense, but keep proving it in the games and don't worry about a ranking. The ranking doesn't get you to the big show. The rankings are effectively just an "I'm prettier than you" game that children play. I have massive respect for everyone that has posted in this thread (and their teams). I just don't see the need for it. Just look at the win/loss records.
But ultimately, opinions are like assholes - everybody's got one....
You make good points but the pros also have lots of opinionated power rankings done by the media that we all enjoy reading, just for fun. I am sure everybody has there favorites and some of us even take the medias opinions of our particular NFL team to heart....
I agree, but we aren't the media - we are directly involved in the teams. We aren't the fans, we ARE the teams. If someone from another conference came in and did this, or one of the mods, I think it would be a different issue (I still wouldn't see the need for it, but...). As it stands, it is too much akin to the "high school student president" vote - all opinion, no substance.
Personally, I detest the talking heads trying to say "who is best". It's one thing to pass it off as "our opinion" and make it clearly KNOWN it's an opinion, and another to say they are the "be all and end all of NFL knowledge" (ie - ESPN, PFW, etc. ad nauseum). For example, do you really trust Deon Sanders opinion on who the best team in the NFL is? Or Steve Mariucci - a guy who can't stay coaching on a team?? It's the old adage about education with a twist. Instead of "if you can't do, teach", it is "if you can't do, preach".
Heh - and I think I just got smellier AND bigger. This is just MY opinion...
True I take all those opinions with a grain of salt, same as Sullys predictions but for some odd reason, I still look at all of those predictions and all of those power rankings, rather I agree or disagree they still draw my interest either way. A different way wouldnt be a bad thing
