There are only 2 games this week that could change who is in the playoffs. Should the Tarheels loose to Cleveland then Malibu has a chance to sneak in with a win vs. Roswell. Other than that, everyone is just playing to improve their seedings and maybe get another home game.

The major components of the rankings are as follows:

Strength of Schedule (SOS): The winning percentage of your opponents to date.

Quality of Wins (QW): Bonus points are awarded for every win based on the opponents winning percentage. So if you beat a winless team, you get nothing, if you beat a previously undefeated team, big bonus.

Offensive Points Over Average (OPOA): If you opponent averages 14 points against and you score 17, you get +3 in the ranking.

Defensive Points Under Average (DPUA): If your opponent averages 21 points scored and you allow 14 you get +7 in the ranking.

I really don't have anything else to add, I'm just used to typing something here.

Clinched Home Field

#1 – Oakland Nation (15-0, rank 56.93) (Last Week #1, Same) *

Maybe Oakland was looking ahead to the playoffs, whatever the reason, they had one of their poorest showings to date vs. a Chicago squad with upset on their minds. The Nation faces Houston in their interconference match-up to close out the season.

#2 - Atlanta Purple Penguins (15-0, rank 52.02)(Last Week #2, Same)*

OK, maybe I jumped the gun last week awarding these guys home field advantage, but they avoided the curse pointing out errors in the rankings has brought in the past, and got the job done against the Kittens. The Assassins are in the Penguins cross-hairs this week, the less said about this the better.

Battling for Home games in the playoffs.

#3 - Niagara Rapids (13-2, rank 42.41)(Last Week #3, Same) *
The State of Texas put up a good fight, but in the end couldn't handle the Rapids. Niagara fights for the #2 seed this week, while the Two-Steppers have clinched the playoffs, and just look to improve their seeding.

#4 – Austin Alcoholics (13-2, rank 41.39)(Last Week #5, +1)*
The Alcoholics knocked off a red hot Chupacabras squad in their quest to secure the #2 seed. The only thing between them and that goal is this weeks match-up with the Outlaws.

#5 – Louisville Baby Kittens (12-3, rank 37.61)(Last Week #4, -1)*
There is no doubt that Louisville is a top team in the East, but their 3 losses come to the top 3 teams in the conference. They will have to do better in the playoffs if they hope to reach the finals. Next they face one of the best in the West as they travel to face LA.

#6 - Anchorage Vikings (12-3, rank 35.01)(Last Week #7, +1)*
Have you ever thought to yourself that a team from Anchorage called the Vikings makes as much sense as a team from LA called the Lakers, no? Me neither.

#7 - Austin Breakers (11-4, rank 34.20)(Last Week #6, -1)*
Lincoln coming to town will be one of the best interconference match-ups this week. .

#8 - Lincoln Freedom Warriors (11-4, rank 31.71)(Last Week #8, Same)*
Giving up 41 to Saginaw is no way to gear up for the playoffs.

Playoff teams

#9 - Appalachian Lycans (10-5, rank 28.14)(Last Week #11, +2)*
I guess Fresno could mean a chance to rest you starters.

#10 - Red Bank Thundercats (10-5, rank 27.29)(Last Week #12, +2)*
This team has come a long way since starting the season 2-3.

#11 - DLF Gods (11-4, rank 26.53)(Last Week #10, -1)*
I still don't know how they are doing it, but they are.

#12 - LA Chupacabras (10-5, rank 26.08)(Last Week #9, -3)*
Some angry Kittens are next, as LA looks to keep some momentum heading into the playoffs.

#13 - Houston Armageddon (9-6, rank 24.74)(Last Week #13, Same)*
Took care of buisness and clinched a playoff berth.

#14 - The State of Texas Domination (8-6-1, rank 20.73)(Last Week #14, Same)*
Thanks to the week 15 results, I no longer have to worry about how ties affect tie-breakers.

On the Bubble

#15 - Texas Tarheels (8-7, rank 20.36)(Last Week #15, Same)
A win or a Malibu loss and they are in.

#16 - Texas Two-Step (8-7, rank 16.23)(Last Week #16, Same)*
Honestly, they shouldn't be in this category, but the rankings want them here.

#17 - Malibu Mels (7-8, rank 15.95)(Last Week #17, Same)
Their playoff hopes now hinge on the Buckeyes pulling off an upset.

Practicing their Golf swings

#18 - Las Vegas Outlaws (6-9, rank 11.53)(Last Week #18, Same) **
#19 - Jax Beach Juggernauts (6-8-1, rank 11.27)(Last Week #20, +1) **
#20 - Roswell Invaders (6-9, rank 11.18)(Last Week #19, -1) **
#21 - Chicago Whodat’s (6-9, rank 10.03)(Last Week #21, Same) **
#22 - The Killer Rabbits of Caerbannog (6-9, rank 9.51)(Last Week #22, Same)**
#23 Saginaw Spirit (5-10, rank 7.96)(Last Week #24, +1)**
#24 Visalia Paraplegics (5-10, rank 7.87)(Last Week #23, -1)**
#25 Big Money Dynasty (4-11, rank 3.58)(Last Week #25, Same)**
#26 South Bend ShamRockers (4-11, rank 2.41)(Last Week #26, Same)**
#27 Cleveland Buckeyes (3-12, rank –1.18) (Last Week #28, +1)**
#28 Atlanta Ducks (2-13, rank –2.07)(Last Week #27, -1) **
#29 Fresno Anarchs (2-13, rank –6.86) (Last Week #29, Same)**
#30 The River City Ransom (1-14, rank –7.98) (Last Week #30, Same)**

Maybe they think they are playing for a #1 draft pick?

#31 Big Whiskey Assassins (0-15, rank –20.32) (Last Week #31, Same)**
#32 Richmond Empire (0-15, rank –31.02) (Last Week #32, Same)**

* Clinched playoff berth
** Eliminated from playoff contention

Well, at least the Lakers are originally from Minnesota? Named after the Great Lakes anyway.

Thanks to Malibu's proximity to BALCO, we can have "reinforcements" overnighted to Ohio tonight, and ready for "deployment" late tomorrow evening.
