Last weeks results led to a huge shake up in the ranks, including what could be the years biggest upset, and this week could be just as dramatic with not two, but four playoff teams clashing on the gridiron.

Detroit Soldiers(7) vs. Canton Hall Of Famers(3)
The Soliders come into this contest on a 3 game losing streak, but should not be underestimated. Meanwhile Canton looks to try to get some insurance (the kind that has nothing to do with Lizards) on home field advantage. While Canton could feasibly lose this game & still be safely in the playoff picture, i'm sure they'd much prefer the post season comforts of home. Meanwhile Detroit may be beginning to feel their backs press against the wall as yet another loss could leave them on the brink of playoff elimination and having to play very teams looking to take their spot in the final weeks of conference play.

Megatropolis Tigers vs. Columbus Buckeyes(6)
Columbus looks to get back into winning form against the Tigers. Did Carson City catch Columbus looking past them? We'll never really know, but it's a sure bet that they will be focused intently on the Tigers (tough luck for them). With little or nothing let to play for but pride, it's hard to say if the MegaCats (you like that? "Mega cats".. i just made it up.. not bad right? Megawhatsitcalled is too stinkin long) will roll over & take a Cat Nap (omg Kitty ref combo!!) for this one, but you can bet that the rest of teams 1-10 are praying on bended knee that they give it all they've got, but will all they've got be enough??

Washington Wildcats vs. Hartford Hurricanes
In a game that has almost no ramifications whatsoever, two teams that had hoped to improve their standings in the conference this season now have to face each other on a field practically overflowing with disappointment & echoing with the sounds of shattered dreams & hopes crashing to the ground. Little has gone either teams way so far, but Washington seems to be facing adversity just a tad bit better to date. Someone buy those kids a kitten poster... "Hang in there!" fellas.. you can DO it!

Carson City Cubes vs. Murder City Devils(1)
Once mocked, now the poster child for wishes made on a star ,pots of gold at the end of a rainbow & skittles raining from the sky, Carson City faces a #1 ranked opponent for the second week in a row. Could C^3 turn their season into the ultimate mentos commercial?!? I hope not, because the only thing more annoying that that would be if they set the highlights of the Columbus game to 'Genie in a Bottle' by Christina Aguilera, but even a solid showing by C^3 could be considered a morale victory. Conversely, Murder City suddenly finds themselves in a position where they have almost everything to lose coming into what was a cake walk two games ago. All this talk of mentos, skittles & rainbows reminds me of Punky Brewster. Anyone other than me think she turned out pretty well?

Pontiac War Kittens(4) vs. Michigan Panthers(2)
Michigan's finest putty tat tandem (alliteration ftw!) finally square off in a game that both teams probably wish they could skip, or at least postpone. Being a battle between two final four teams, the stakes are high as this season, and possibly the tone of next season could be set with playoff home field advantage. The only bit of what you might remotely call good news is that regardless of who loses, the farthest they could possibly fall would likely be 6 or 7th place with a solid cushion between them & the next seed.

Seattle Reign(8) vs. New Jersey Vikings
In a game where Seattle desperately looks to hold on to their playoff hopes, it would seem at first glance that their prayers have been answered. History doesn't give the Vikings much of a chance here, but one would think that eventually the law of averages has to kick in.

Milwaukee Fire(5) vs. Lexington Mob
The Fire's hi octane offense square off against the do or die mob. Both teams have prolific offenses, but defense could very well be the key to who walks away from this one. Milwaukee, with a 2 game lead on its closest playoff competitor is in a position to take more risks, while Lexington needs this game if they are going to harbor any hope of a long shot playoff run.

New York Huskies vs. Maryland Iron Maidens
Although the Maidens will be playing The Huskies, they might as well be playing Seattle & Lexington by proxy. While it's a longshot that seattle loses to New Jersey, Carson City has everyone believing in miracles again. And while they may be in a bit of a bind in figuring out a way to leapfrog Seattle, with Lexington playing the fire, this game may be their last shot at keeping Lexington from looming over their shoulder for the rest of the season.

To what's left of our friends in the West.. those of you left that type are welcome to insert comments on your games here as well.. making threads for just one or two games seems so lonely..

The Fire are keeping their eye on that #2 vs. #4 matchup as we sit on the #5 seed. We would love a shot at home field and making some noise in the playoffs. Good luck to everybody tonight!

I heard that to have any chance of beating them, an advanced knowledge of trigonometry and a selection of Picasso's Cubist drawings were needed. You never know...
