I've created OL for others and never had any complaints where I do the usual meta, ATT1 - Strength and all gear here, ATT2 - Blocking.

When we watch replays and when HB attacks between the Tackles and DLineman succeeds with his tackle attempt, we can clearly see the D dot is engaged with the OL guy and manages to break off for the tackle attempt right as he needs to.

So I've always wondered, is it actually smarter to perhaps reverse the usual, going ATT1- Blocking, ATT2 - Strength and maybe even splitting the gear bonuses between the two?

All of that in an attempt to keep DLineman engaged with his block and avoid the tackle attempt altogether?
I'm sure this has been asked and tried by others in the 119 seasons of dotball, but so far as I know, I only see mature league teams succeeding with Strength over Blocking. To which you may say, "you answered your own question then, dummy".

But since coming back in season 106, I haven't really seen most OL dots at the highest level. The few I'm privy to seeing are all the Strength over Blocking with all gear into Strength.

Is this the unquestioned way, only way to really build a run focused team?

Another reason I ask is that I don't care so much for the OL Pancakes but would trade that everyday for more actual blocking. So maybe it's still Strength over Blocking but heavier into Run SAs than usual if not going with a balanced offense approach?

Well I can't say that PW: https://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/team.pl?team_id=10742 is a run focused team, but here is one of my Guards attributes:

Attributes
Physical Attributes
Strength: 160 (+55)
Speed: 81
Agility: 90
Stamina: 61
Vision: 61
Confidence: 40

Football Skills
Blocking: 96.02

The most notorious(best) pound the rock Offense was probably John's(Original Mauler) as he won many WL Titles doing just that. However, I don't think that would work anymore as agents like RC learned how to stop that after time.

Jlrock and John had some great "shove it down your throat, mauling offenses". Mauler was such an appropriate name for managing those teams...

I definitely would not be going blocking 1st or splitting eq between strength and blocking...been tried and results not good.

All EQ on Strength and triple down on HB% is foundational

I have some OL builds that were part of that Odin's Wrath team Dusk, but went strength with EQ I think was 124l5 with blocking being maybe 130 agility around 95 and vision was 90 from the pass block archetype. They struggled at times, but watching them play with the logic of passing defenders back ans forth was fun! However against stronger DL (not sure of builds) they struggled getting reverse pancaked often. Let me know if you want to see a build as I still have a few who haven't retired and are still playing

The issue is that blocked defenders still get to attempt tackles. If the O-Line can't move them back or sideways at least, all runs would be 1-2 yard gains.

This makes all the sense in the world to me. I didn't know they "still get" to attempt tackles while being held. Never considered that.

Ok... it's still ATT1 Strength with all gear into STR

IMHO Bort has built in an advantage to insure the offense prevails. Don’t think you will ever defeat that completely

All run offense doesn't work. I just built a team like that. People just load up with hard hitting LBs and stop you. Now a run first offense with power backs and some complementary pieces like scat backs and a few good receivers to keep the defense honest not only works, but is the MO of most top teams lately.

Not sure how it relates to higher levels but in pee see power runs with a mobile QB causes issues. I’m sure that doesn’t work as well at pro level.

What about strength ungodly high and not worry as much about blocking since they still can make tackle when blocked.

Does anyone else remember those old Rush Hour teams that were actually pretty good? I'd imagine those agents are long gone but, if you can get ahold of one of them, that might be a good place to start. Personally, I was thinking 105-106 strength (before EQ, of course) with 90+ blocking and 90+ agility with the run blocker tree filled out (except pancake because the general consensus seems to be that it's useless). 3 AEQ, maybe even four - 3 hold block pieces and cut block maybe? I would assume you'd want Aura/Pummel as well
