This is my first time creating a linebacker; I'm going for a pass rushing OLB. Should I bother putting any points toward and special abilities? I've read some threads that say that its basically useless until you reach the soft cap. Also where should the first 5 points go?

Being level 1 I would suggest getting your stamina to 25. That way you should be able to get max XP. Then concentrate on speed, agility, vision, tackling $ strength.

Do not put any points in the SA tree until your level is higher.

As for your first 5 points I would pump them into stamina. Then set your training for stamina. That way you should get plenty of PT.

Lol. 25 stamina that early? lol. No. Even if he's in the D-Leagus, as long as he puts SOME points into stamina (I'd say 20 by level 5 is a decent goal) he should get close to the max amount of PT he's going to get, anyways.

Anyways. Completly avoid SA's until you're at least say... Level 15 or so. Until then, you have too many "core" abilities to work on to justify putting points into SAs.

Anyways... If you're looking to be a pass rusher, you'll probably be a ROLB. So I'd continue to stack speed until you're at the soft cap. I'd probably say 2-3 out of every 5 SP you get until you get to the soft cap. Put the majority of the rest into agility and vision, since you'll want both of those at 40+. Make sure not to neglect strength, stamina, and tackling as well, though... I'd dump a few of your earlier level points into stamina, and then just train it up till about 20 or so. Also train and get your strength up while you can. If you play on wrap-up, you'll be able to neglect tackling for a while... but next season that won't be as much the case, so you'll definately want to train tackling when you have time to.
