Closing Speed only works partially on S Teams.....it does not work before the kick is caught but does work after the returner has the ball

This. ^^^ However, I seem to remember it (Closing Speed) has a cut off point once the dot (doing the chasing) gets within so close of the dot with the football. Fine if your dot has more speed than the dot he's chasing... he'll hopefully close further and make a TD saving diving tackle. It's absolutely frustrating when he doesn't because you see him close the gap... get close... then fall back... then, once he falls far enough back, you'll see him surge again, catching up... to so close... then fall back as the SA shuts down again. And again... and again.

I don't know if his Jersey dot is built the same as his Palm Bay dot, but if it is, y'all are being being a bit too skeptical here. Adding his other dot to Palm Bay ST unit has helped our kickoff and punt coverage in a rather interesting way, a way I never would have thought of. But I'll leave it to the OP to decide if he wants to say more.

But if Jersey wants to cut his dot... *shrug*... their loss.

Well, his other dot's on my team, and I don't want to make things TOO easy for our opponents to figure out. Let's just say I'm very happy having his one dot Free Willy on my team, and I really hope his other dot Free Money doesn't end up with one of our opponents.

Sounds like he found a team for next season then.

How many ST-only dots do you think Palm Bay needs?

We don't have room for his second dot ourselves, or else I'd scoop him up for sure. But he's done well for us with his one dot, so I figured I'd try to help him find a home for his second dot. Consider this a letter of recommendation. Good agent, good dot.

168 speed before any SAs are applied. There will be no falling back. The closing speed helps him cross the field in a flash. How often do you see a 60 yard fair catch? http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2997172&pbp_id=342111

My job isn't to make tackles. I force fair catches, and force the BW to block me, leaving my teammates, the FF guys, free to make the tackles, and hopefully make FF. And there seems to be quite a few of them when my player is near. But I do make tackles http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2996046&pbp_id=1244018. My pro career has been 165 tackles, 11 missed tackles.

You are 99% wrong on closing speed not working on ST. I have plenty of plays that prove that it does, for instance, http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2990660&pbp_id=721648. Not only that, but when was the last time you saw a tackler faked out, and still make the tackle?

Thanks. It's great having a team that wanted me, and realized why I built as I did. Too many "your dot will suck" type rejections when I was looking before. I believe that my dots makes other dots around him even better.

I think it works right away on punts, because I don't see a new burst of speed when the ball is caught. And the rare times when the ball is punted down the middle, I seem much faster than the other gunner even taking into account my faster speed. The 1st step doesn't hurt there either.

This build and strategy is VERY close to what Guppy preached. It works. I’ve got a FS like free willy and he does much of the same. Amazing how quick they get to the PR b/c of the rotten ST coding on punts. No good effective, reliable way to defend split end rushers. These guys do sacrifice in other areas, so there’s that.

My only question is does him getting there first diminish your chance at a FFUM, most of my casual teams will get a good amount of FFUM's on returners throughout a season but I'm guessing a guy like this if he gets there first all the time, will take those chances away.

I'm more with the Gup on this. When talkin top quality teams and very well built dots you're likely not going to get many fringe outcomes. Forced fumbles can happen... but, overall, it's a very low % outcome. Most top returners don't fumble but 1 or 2 times in an entire season (if that)... so you're banking on a low % play to help you only a few times a season. I've always been (as a ST guy) much more interested in negating any return as my #1 thing. First stat I always check on my punters and kickers is net yardage (distance-return distance). I know pinning my opponent deep, as long as I got a good defense, is my #1 way of ensuring they don't score and gaining the advantage in field position is the #1 way I ensure we do score. Most points wins games.

I hear you, from the sounds of OP, on punts it pretty much will force fair catches and will not give any FFUM opportunities, but on kickoffs it will force the wedge to block him and still give your FFUM guys a chance??? If so I'm willing to make that trade.

I don't know about punts, but I definitely see it kicking in after the returner catches it : http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2997163&pbp_id=231591
A big burst as soon as that returned grabs it.

I looked at some punts, but the ones that aren't fair catches he is running laterally so hard to tell.
