Dude, I think you have us (Majors) way too high. The Huskies can't be worse than us.

its just funny, because the bottom half of the east is garbage. so the top half runs up the score on them, and that makes 5 of the top 7 teams from the east? laughable. there is obviously a flaw in your formula. just saying. maybe 2 of the top 7 teams are from the east. maybe.

What and some of the teams at the bottom of the west aren't "garbage"? Relax anyway, it's rankings from a formula. The only way we'll be able to compare conferences is on cross conference match day.

comparatively? not really. heres our 16th ranked winless team against your 12th ranked team.

i will agree that there is no real way to compare the east to the west at this point. the quality of the teams are just too different to be able to include stats in the factoring. i think there are a few real quality teams in the east, that can compete with any of the west teams (michigan comes to mind), but the drop off from the 'haves' to the 'have nots' is steeper than the grand canyon.

here's an idea

instead of criticism of some arbitrary rankings, you offer some advice on how to make the rankings more valid or fair. if he doesnt listen, fine make your own 'fair' rankings.

all you're doing is ensuring we get less and less posts like 'power rankings', 'game previews', etc


keep it up and we'll have an empty forum before you know it

i have, take out the scoring. i dont have to agree with it to appreciate the fact that it was posted. i just dont think that if we took a poll it would look anything close to these rankings, and id like to see some rankings come more into line that reflect that. which im sure isnt easy to do. im definitely not criticizing reffi for posting it, im criticizing the formula.

edit: maybe the first post did come off that way, and for that i apologize.

I am sorry...but you really think a poll is any more accurate than any formula? Where all it takes is everyone to vote themselves first, or the people they hate last?

To me, at the end of the playoffs, we will know who the top teams are...at least who #1 is.

It's not even a good comparison to use last season's games to justify opinions on a formula using this seasons numbers. Until we play again, it's one thing to have an opinion of them, but you don't really know just how good or bad the eastern teams are, especially having not played them. Last season we weren't as good because our playoff race wasn't as competitive, this season it's more competitive & your side is the one with a undefeated team & less parody.. yet now we (the east) are not as good because the top teams did well against the bottom, yet the fact that the top six teams or so are within a game or 2 of each other is now irrelevant, or at least not mentioned? Which is it, cause it seems to me that even if your conference is better, you change the criteria based on what makes you look better.

It's still waaaay too early to be jumping up & down on the formula because it can't adequately predict the future. The fact that the ranking changed significantly since the last time is proof that the numbers as they are now are a snapshot speculation, not an all encompassing one. The numbers probably won't be accurate until the end of the season, when the formula has all the data, or at least enough to make the same type of conclusions that we make already. If there was a formula that could do what you're asking, we wouldn't have to play because we'd have the formula to tell us the outcome.

If you want a poll, organize a poll.. matter of fact, your conference had a poll, and I seem to recall Hero having to remind everyone to participate on a fairly regular basis, and now it's gone because it wasn't supported.. so.. even if a poll would be more representative of the actual standings.. the same human factor that would make it "better", also makes it a pain in the butt to do. And really, there's nothing to stop you from doing your own poll.. or rankings list or whatever..

We all have some sort of gripe with the formula, heck I don't much think my team is #2 in all of BBB#2 at this moment, but please understand that your criticisms increase the odds of losing it for others who don't mind if it's not totally accurate.. hence the nature of skers retort (i'm assuming). Some people just like to have things to read during the off days.

To those who are whining because their team is not #1....

im not sure you read me right. the only thing i compared is the bottom half of each league, this year, as is. i was showing our 'worst team' (ranked 31st on here) is level and rating wise better than the 12th team in the east (ranked 24th?) thats as of right now. i have no idea where last seasons numbers play into that.. and youre right, whats the use of organizing a poll when you only get a third of the league involved? if i thought i could get enough participation i would run it, but bbb#2 forums are dead on the western side. it sucks. i actually bumped it a couple of days ago to try and get it back on track without any success.
