Well I remembered to email the spreadsheet to work, and its already updated with the new rankings so all I have to do is the write-up. Shit, I don’t have last week’s write-up at work, and since the spreadsheet is already updated, I have no Idea what the teams were ranked last week (outside the top 5 anyway).

Oh well, so you don’t get the cute +/- same at the end of each ranking, just look at the week 10 column and do the math yourself.

The major components of the rankings are as follows:

Strength of Schedule (SOS): The winning percentage of your opponents to date.

Quality of Wins (QW): Bonus points are awarded for every win based on the opponents winning percentage. So if you beat a winless team, you get nothing, if you beat a previously undefeated team, big bonus.

Offensive Points Over Average (OPOA): If you opponent averages 14 points against and you score 17, you get +3 in the ranking.

Defensive Points Under Average (DPUA): If your opponent averages 21 points scored and you allow 14 you get +7 in the ranking.

We are down to one undefeated team in each division, and Surprise Surprise, they are ranked #1 & #2, but what is surprising is that the teams that lost really didn’t fall in the rankings due to their outstanding seasons to date.

And as an added bonus, since the movement tracking is missing, I’ve added who has clinched playoff berths and who has been eliminated.

Contenders

#1 – Oakland Nation (11-0, rank 49.31)*

The Nation more survived the contest with Austin A. than won it. After gaining an early lead, Austin A. dominated the field position battle and Oakland was lucky to escape with the win. Next up for Oakland is another team from Texas, with the Two Steppers looking for their 2nd win against a team with a winning record to keep their playoff hopes alive.

#2 - Atlanta Purple Penguins (11-0, rank 37.59)*

APP did what is expected of a top team traveling to South Bend, they made touchdown Jesus cry, blowing out the ShamRockers 37-0. Next they face a Redbank squad that is hard to figure out. One week the Thundercats beat a top team in Lincoln, the next they struggle with a Vegas squad. The question is, which Thundercats squad will show up this week.

#3 - Austin Alcoholics (10-1, rank 34.68)*

The Alcoholics gave the Nation fits in a close loss in week 11. And even in the loss Austin improved their ranking by beating Oakland’s Average points against by 6 and holding the Nations powerful offense to 10. They also maintained their streak buster status against Oakland, as since week 7 last year, Oakland has allowed 4 TD’s (not counting scrimmages), all to Austin A. Next up for Austin A. are the Assassins, not much to say there.

#4 – Louisville Baby Kittens (10-1, rank 33.04)*

In what was the most surprising result of week 11, the Kittens fell to Lincoln. This wasn’t surprising due to the loss (as Lincoln is a top squad) what was surprising is how Lincoln dominated 41-16. The Kittens look to rebound against Las Vegas before another tough match-up vs. Niagara in week 13.

#5 – Lincoln Freedom Warriors (9-2, rank 30.20)*

Lincoln vaults into the top 5 with their dominating win vs. Louisville. In what may be a problem with the spreadsheet that should be addressed next season, Lincoln is still ranked below Louisville, but I’m not changing things now. Cleveland is up next in what would have been a great college football match-up 10 years ago; you know when Nebraska was still relevant.

2nd tier

#6 - Niagara Rapids (9-2, rank 29.29)
Underwhelming performance vs. Jax Beach and Lincolns win drop them in the rankings. Niagara can clinch a playoff berth this week with a win.

#7 - Anchorage Vikings (9-2, rank 24.54)*
Losing to DLF doesn’t help in gaining the respect of the spreadsheet, beating Visalia won’t help much either.

#8 - Austin Breakers (8-3, rank 22.86)
Rebounded this week with a dominating win vs. the Assassins, but everybody does that.

#9 DFL Gods (8-3, rank 20.94)
Move up into the top 10 and get a sentence written about them, congrats.

#10 Houston Armageddon (6-5, rank 19.84)
Once again, Texas team = Silver bullets, Appalachian should rename their team to something without such a glaring weakness.

Need to turn it up a notch

#11 Appalachian Lycans (6-5, rank 19.26)
#12 Red Bank Thundercats (7-4, rank 18.64)
#13 The State of Texas Domination (6-4-1, rank 16.79)
#14 Texas Tarheels (5-6, rank 16.61)
#15 Mailbu Mels (4-7, rank 16.46)
#16 LA Chupacabras (7-4, rank 15.00)

Seriously, Any Boosts Left?

#17 Texas Two-Step (6-5, rank 13.16)
#18 Roswell Invaders (5-6, rank 10.30)
#19 Jax Beach Juggernauts (4-6-1, rank 10.28)
#20 Chicago Whodat’s (6-5, rank 9.42)
#21 Saginaw Spirit (4-7, rank 8.73)
#22 Las Vegas Outlaws (4-7, rank 7.42)
#23 The Killer Rabbits of Caerbannog (3-8, rank 6.66)

Believed Favre when he said he was retiring

#24 Big Money Dynasty (4-7, rank 6.25)
#25 Visalia Paraplegics (4-7, rank 4.51)
#26 South Bend ShamRockers (3-8, rank 1.10)
#27 Atlanta Ducks (2-9, rank 0.82) **
#28 Cleveland Buckeyes (2-9, rank –0.68) **

Lucky there is no regulation

#29 The River City Ransom (1-10, rank –6.19) **
#30 Fresno Anarchs (1-10, rank –7.41) **
#31 Big Whiskey Assassins (0-11, rank –18.90) **
#32 Richmond Empire (0-11, rank –26.29) **

* Clinched playoff berth
** Eliminated from playoff contention

Finally, Lincoln cracks the top 5 in the almighty Brick Power Rankings. We were quite surprised in our game against Louisville. We're just glad that we're having the kind of season that we are.

P.S. You might want to watch what you say about Nebraska. We're going to be back to prominence sooner than you think.

The Chupacabras expect to move up some positions after not moving one position since the beginning of our 6 game win streak.

You beat a team with a winning record, now you move up.

I bet the Thundercats move up on a loss again. We hung real tough with the undefeated Purple Penguins.
