I understand the the Al can be as easy or complicated as you want but I want to be good and not embarrass my team as I did this season. incorrect tagging or no tagging I think was a big part of this.

1. Should a good Al have tagging for all back types ? All FB and TE types ? If no what is the norm ?

2. When tagging a rushing QB should there be different plays if O play has a power back or other type back ? Should they also be 1st down to 4th down regardless of yardage or broken down by yardage and or downs.

3. I also found myself by end of season having 4-5 plays per package and some inputs having a couple packages within it. Basically a 1st down SI with power back could have up to 10 plays. What is a good number of plays for a package ?

Yeah I'd suggest getting on the forum Dave suggests.

But as a quick answer. I think you have to pick where you want complexity and simplify the other. At least if you don't want to spend hours daily adjusting. You can also add more complexity slowly and carefully over time to account for unique things that broke your plays or AI.

I prefer AI complexity with 1 or 2 plays per input. So yes I'll have a lot of specific personnel tag combos but some of them are just about having the right type of LB on the field (using custom depth in the output). I don't have 1000 plays and let auto adjust figure it out eventually.

The opposite can be done, but I don't prefer it. The opposite is what you have....less inputs and let AA find the right play. I don't like that approach as it could take too long for AA to find it with it any more than 2 plays. And what if the offense has 2-3 plays with the same general personnel? There might be some DCs who have a way to handle it reasonably and not spend all day on their defense....but it just doesn't work for me and at least 1 other really good DC I've known on here.
